Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana accredited in Turkmenistan

On the instructions of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Chairperson of Mejlis A. Nurberdyeva received letters of credence from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Ghana to Turkmenistan Mr. Alhaji Bawah Gilbert Ayembillah.

On behalf of the Turkmen leader the head of the Parliament of Turkmenistan congratulated the diplomat on his appointment to the high diplomatic post and wished him every success in promoting friendly relations and mutually beneficial partnership between the two countries.

Thanking for the kind words and emphasizing that he considered it great honour to represent his country in Turkmenistan, the Ambassador conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes on behalf of the leadership of the Republic of Ghana to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The Ghanaian diplomat was briefed on key aspects of the development strategy of the Turkmen state in the present period. The main objectives of the on-going programmes of reforms initiated by the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov included promotion of social and economic development of Turkmenistan and the welfare of the Turkmen people. The plenipotentiary representative of the Republic of Ghana was also informed in detail about the organisational structure and multifaceted activities of the Parliament of Turkmenistan.

Exchanging views on the prospects of interstate cooperation, the sides focused on the existing ample opportunities to promote mutually beneficial cooperation despite geographical remoteness of the two states.

The priority areas for bilateral cooperation include the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. The proposal for the establishment of direct inter-parliamentary relations was put forward at the meeting.

In conclusion, Mr. Alhaji Bawah Gilbert Ayembillah expressed belief that relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Ghana based on the goodwill of the two nations would successfully develop and be filled with new specific content.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Ghana was received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where the prospects of interstate cooperation were discussed.
