Ashgabat hosts the negotiations between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov and Prime Minister of the Republic of India Narendra Modi who the day before arrived in our country on an official visit.
The impressive arrival ceremony of the distinguished guestwas held in the Independence Square where the Prime Minister of the Republic of India was welcomed by the head of state. The arrival ceremony was also attended by the members of the two countries’ governmental delegations, representatives of the diplomatic missions accredited to Turkmenistan.
Soon thereafter, the Turkmen leader and high-ranking guest headed to the Palace for Ambassadors Reception to hold in the “Blue Hall” of the Palace the negotiations in the narrow format.
The present visit is regarded as a new phase in the history of Turkmen-Indian relations. Turkmenistan attaches great importance to strengthening interaction with India, the head of state said, having extended gratitude to the Prime-Minister of India for accepting invitation to pay a visit to Turkmenistan.
The leader of nation has also emphasized that the Turkmen-Indian relations go deep into the depths of history, in which Bairamkhan Turkmen – a renowned statesman and military leader at court of Great Moguls, a thinker and talented literary man - left his notable mark. Huge interest the Turkmen people evince in the Indian culture promotes the mutuality-based cooperation in the cultural-humanitarian and economic spheres, as well as in the foreign policy one, where the views of our states, standing for sustainable development and steady safe peace, coincide, including the positions on the energy security.
In this regard, the accent was placed on the significance of the “Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India” gas pipeline construction project, realization of which would have a positive impact not only on the two countries’ economies, but on the region as a whole. Not the least significant in the bilateral relations is the transport constituent in the light of the advantageous geographical location of our countries. It was noted that the by-now developing trade-economic relations had an untapped potential for their dynamics upward advancement.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov has also extended congratulations to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the UN-announced World Yoga Day. For the nation’s health, yoga has great importance, the head of state said, having stressed that in our country preparations started for launching of the Yoga and Traditional Medicine Health Center, the opening ceremony of which was timed to the visit of the distinguished Indian guest. The Center is expected to become a symbol of close unity and fraternity of our nations, the leader of nation stated. Today, the capital will also host the ceremony of opening the monument to the great son and spiritual leader of the Indian people, an outstanding philosopher and politician - Mahatma Gandhi, who is honored in our country as a champion and inspirer of ideas of peace.
As is known, the head of state continued, the United Nations General Assembly passed the consensus Resolution “Permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan”. In the running year, we shall mark the 20th anniversary of adopting the Resolution. In this regard, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov invited the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take part in the International conference devoted to that remarkable event to be held in Ashgabat in December.
