Prime Minister of the Republic of India attends opening ceremonies of a statue to Mahatma Gandhi and Yoga Centre in Ashgabat

Prime Minister of the Republic of India Narendra Modi, who arrived in Ashgabat on an official visit, attended opening ceremonies of a statue to Mahatma Gandhi and Yoga Centre.

The statue to the thinker, prophet of peace, enlightener Mahatma Gandhi, who led India to independence, was erected near the Yoga Centre that is located in the Bagtyyarlyk new sports complex in Ashgabat.

During the opening ceremony, Narendra Modi expressed gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for the concern about the preservation and promotion of spiritual relations between the peoples of Turkmenistan and India as well as enhancement of diverse humanitarian contacts between our countries.

Visiting the Yoga Centre, the Prime Minister of the Republic of India talked to young citizens of Turkmenistan – students practicing hindi and those ones interested in the ancient Indian medicine and yoga.

The distinguished guest visited Kypchak, where he laid flowers in the Mausoleum paying tribute to the first President of Turkmenistan and visited the Mausoleum of Spirituality of Turkmenbashi.

Prime Minister of the Republic of India Narendra Modi laid flowers to the Monument of Independence. Following a good tradition, the distinguished guest planted a young tree on the Alley of Guests of Honour as a symbol of friendship between the peoples of the two countries.

In the evening, an official dinner was given in honour of the distinguished guest on behalf of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
