President of Turkmenistan visits the construction sites in the Avaza national tourism zone

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the construction sites in the Avaza national tourism zone, reviewed the new development projects and flew by helicopter over the seaside resort to see the progress in construction work on the seashore.

The Chairperson of Mejlis, the Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, the hyakims of Balkan Velayat, Turkmenbashi town and Avaza Etrap and other high-ranking officials greeted the Turkmen leader at the magnificent building of the Congress Centre.

It represents the remarkable architectural ensemble, consisting of the stylized snow-white tent with golden stained glass windows and ornaments on the facade. The construction of the Congress Centre began in November 2012, and it is currently nearing completion. The construction site covers an area of 185,000 square metres. The nine-storey building of the Congress Centre houses the halls for major events, summits, top-level talks, conferences, forums and meetings. The project of the largest Congress Centre in Central Asia is being implemented by the Turkish company Polimeks. The top manager of the Turkish company attended the event.

The Turkmen leader visited the building of the Avaza Congress Centre to see the interior design and equipment installed in its premises. Though finishing works in the entrance hall with huge columns are underway, it creates a strong impression even now.

The Turkmen leader visited the largest conference hall, located on the ground floor. The conference hall offers seating for 2,000 delegates. The building will also house three meeting rooms seating 100 delegates, the multifunctional meeting room seating 200 participants, the hall for signing ceremonies, the hall for business meetings of government delegations and a number of halls for other events.

There will be the banquet halls and cinema in the building of the Congress Centre. The exhibition hall and offices of the Avaza National Committee for Tourism will be located on one of the floors. The VIP sports complex will cover an area of 12,000 square metres, featuring the swimming pool, gym, billiards hall, bowling hall, etc.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the premises on several floors, including those on the 7th floor, where the offices and apartments for foreign heads of state were located. The building of the Congress Centre will house the study rooms of the leader of Turkmenistan.

An observation deck, which offers a panoramic view of Avaza, is located on the upper floor. The territory adjacent to the building of the Congress Centre, featuring water cascades, fountains, green areas, bridge and car parks, is currently being landscaped.

The Turkmen leader held a working meeting with the cabinet ministers, the hyakims of Balkan Velayat and Turkmenbashi town and the top manager of Polimeks in the press conference hall at the building of the Congress Centre.

The issues related to the preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Elders’ Council, the progress in implementing the Balkan Velayat social and economic development programme, the measure taken to enhance the economic potential of Turkmenbashi town and its new etraps and improve social and living conditions in the region were discussed at the meeting. The meeting participants presented the reports on on-going construction work in Avaza and the progress in fulfilling the tasks set by the Turkmen leader to further develop the young seaside resort and the maritime region.

The Turkmen leader gave the high-ranking officials specific instructions to ensure that newly built facilities would meet modern requirements, focusing on the need for strict control over the quality of construction work. The Turkmen leader also instructed the high-ranking officials to ensure the high level of organisation of the upcoming meeting of the Elders’ Council.

In conclusion, the President wished the meeting participants every success in their work. The Turkmen leader left the building of the Congress Centre and headed to the pier, located nearby.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov flew by helicopter over the seaside resort to see the progress in construction work on facilities and buildings in Avaza and the international seaport in Turkmenbashi town as well as development of tourist, hotel, social and economic infrastructures in the region.

The Turkmen leader could see the recently opened amusement parks Alemgosar, Deniz Merjeni and Jadyly Kenar and the cottage complex, being built by the members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.

The Turkmen leader could see green areas located between the seashore and the Avaza river where young trees grew. The President gave the Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers specific instructions to expand green plantations in Avaza.

The Turkmen leader could see the construction sites, located in the centre of Avaza Etrap. The facilities under construction include the office buildings of the Avaza Etrap Hyakimlik and the housing and communal services, police department, fire station, secondary school for 320 children equipped with multimedia technology, kindergarten for 160 children, health centre and eight four-storey apartment houses.

Then the President could see the construction site of the international seaport in Turkmenbashi town. According to the General Plan for the development of the Turkmenbashi international seaport and the Navy of Turkmenistan for the period till 2020, the new international sea port will cover a total area of 138.5 hectares, including the sea area. The project envisages the construction of the ferry, passenger and cargo terminals. The mooring line will have the total length of 3,607 metres.

The seaport equipped with the latest technology will create the most favourable conditions for European countries to reach commodity and raw materials markets of the Middle East and the Indian Ocean region as well as significantly reduce the distance for freight flows.

In conclusion, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov summed up the instructions given at the working meeting. Specifying the primary tasks of further improvement and development of modern social infrastructure in Avaza, the President wished the high-ranking officials every success in fulfilling these tasks.
