President of Turkmenistan attends the opening ceremonies of health facilities

The opening ceremonies of a number of health facilities and the ceremony of laying the foundation stone of a specialized medical institution took place in Ashgabat. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov attended the ceremonies and the celebrations in honour of the 20th anniversary of the Saglyk State Programme on the eve of Day of Health and Medical Industry Workers.

Participants in the ceremonies and the anniversary celebrations included the high-ranking officials, media representatives and health professionals. The professors from Germany and other foreign guests were invited to participate in the festive events.

The ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the International Surgery and Endocrinology Centre, the opening ceremony of the International Training and Research Centre, which will develop and implement research projects and use research findings in practice, took place on that day.

The building complex includes the Medical Simulation Centre with the endoscopic surgery unit and the research and analytics departments.

The research department of the International Training and Research Centre consists of the molecular genetics, cytogenetics, microbiological and metabolism laboratories and other units.

The analytics department will provide research and methodological support for the development, modernization and management of the health sector and its economic base, develop the evidence-based State eHealth Strategy, develop, create and maintain the State Register of drugs and the State Register of medical technology and medical devices, etc.

The opening ceremony of another facility of particular importance to the national health sector – the International Cardiology Centre – took place on that day. It consists of thirteen departments supplied with state-of-the-art equipment and technologies in compliance with the highest international standards and designed to accommodate and provide highly qualified medical care to 141 patients.

The International Cardiology Centre includes the clinical and diagnostic laboratory equipped with state-of-the-art automatic analysers from leading European manufacturers. It will conduct hematologic, biochemical and immunological studies.

The International Cardiology Centre houses the physiotherapy department that will render a wide range of medical services, including electrotherapy, magnetic therapy, hydrotherapy, phototherapy, laser therapy, inhalation, phytotherapy, etc.

The opening ceremony of the Mother and Child Health Care Clinical Research Centre continued the parade of the building premieres on that day. The health facility designed to routine and urgent medical care to 670 patients consists of twenty eight departments, representing the main fields of science and practice of obstetric aid, the advanced technologies for obstetrics, perinatology, intensive care and neonatal resuscitation, medical genetics, reproduction, diagnostics and consulting services, treatment of childhood diseases, etc.

The Mother and Child Health Care Clinical Research Centre has thirteen operating theatres; emergency surgeries will be performed in five of them and routine surgeries in eight operating theatres.

The Clinical Research Centre houses the clinical research surgery department for children up to one year old that has all the necessary facilities and conditions to provide urgent care and effective treatment round the clock. Local specialists have had practical training at well-known clinics in Europe.

The anaesthesiology and resuscitation department has all the necessary conditions to provide medical supervision and treatment of premature infants and small-for-date babies. This department is the first in Turkmenistan to use the method of therapeutic hypothermia.

The Clinical Research Centre houses the paediatric toxicology department – the first one in Turkmenistan. It will provide highly qualified medical care to children suffering from acute and chronic renal failure and various kinds of poisoning.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov attended the opening ceremony of the building complex of warehouses of the Main Pharmacy Association.

The opening ceremony of the specialized rehabilitation centre designed to provide medical care to 120 patients in Tejen town, Ahal Velayat took place on that day.
