The President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has accepted the General director of the World Health Organization Margaret Chan and director of the WHO European regional bureau Zhuzhana Jakob, who have arrived to Ashgabat, especially for participation in celebrations on the occasion of the 20 anniversary of the State “Health” program and the Day of workers of public healthcare and medical industry of Turkmenistan.
Heads of the authoritative international organization have congratulated the head of Turkmenistan on the significant anniversary for the country, and taking an opportunity, have thanked the leader of the nation for award of honorable state award of Turkmenistan – “Neutrality” order, which became a recognition of their considerable contributions in establishment of constructive cooperation between Turkmenistan and the WHO.
The interested exchange of opinions on present condition, priority directions and prospects of further development of bilateral interaction built on principles of long term, trust and mutual respect has taken place.
Having highly appreciated the visible successes reached by our country in the sphere of public healthcare, in particular, increase of life expectancy, active struggle against tobacco smoking, decrease of children's death rate and parent disease and many others, Margaret Chan and Zhuzhanna Jakob have underlined that all this, first of all, is about a social orientation of the state policy.
As it has been noted, thanks to reforms in the national healthcare system, conducted by the State “Health” program, the Turkmen residents have got access to a wide spectrum of modern medical services rendered by modern clinics and the medical-diagnostic centers, erected in the capital and velayats of the country.
Heads of World Health Organization have expressed confidence in further successful continuation of cooperation within the framework of recently approved new State “Health” program of the President of Turkmenistan, developed taking into account the accumulated positive experience and vital tasks in the field of health protection.
In turn, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, has expressed special gratitude to the high ranking representatives of WHO for support given by the organization in the area of maternity and childhood protection, in realizations of scale national projects and assistance in children's immunization on which Turkmenistan takes leading positions in Central Asian region already for many years.
