President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has begun a state visit to the Kyrgyz Republic this morning. The plane of the President of Turkmenistan landed at the Manas-2 International Airport in Bishkek. In an atmosphere of mutual trust and understanding President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Almazbek Atambayev are going to discuss a wide range of aspects of Turkmen-Kyrgyz cooperation, paying particular attention to the implementation of bilateral agreements and further opportunities of mutually beneficial contacts in various sectors. Emphasizing that the profound potential to build up fruitful partnership existed in the fuel and energy, transport, trade and economic sectors, the leaders of Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan called for the promotion of traditional cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, based on centuries-old historical and cultural affinities of the two brotherly nations.
The sides exchanged views on a number of important issues of regional and international politics of mutual interest during the one-on-one talks.
The talks, involving the government delegations of the two countries, took place in the Big Meeting Hall of the Ala-Archa State Residence.

The agreements of cooperation in education, scientific and technical cooperation, cooperation in the certification of highly qualified research and research and education professionals between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic were signed in the presence of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Atambayev. The Agreement of Cooperation between the Main Department of Archives under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and the Archive Agency under the State Registration Service under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Agreement on Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan and the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Protocol on the exchange of verification document to the Treaty on Friendship, Mutual Understanding and Cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Kyrgyz Republic signed on November 11, 2014 in Ashgabat were signed.
The documents aimed at the enhancement of cooperation between the regions of the two countries, in particular the Agreement of Cooperation between Balkan Velayat of Turkmenistan and of Issyk-Kul Region of Kyrgyzstan and the Agreement on Cooperation between Ahal Velayat of Turkmenistan and Batken Region of Kyrgyzstan, were signed.
The Protocol on the approval of the Action Plan to implement the Agreement of Cooperation in culture between the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2016-2017, Protocol on the approval of the Action Plan for Cooperation for 2016-2017 in the framework of the Agreement of Cooperation in physical culture and sports between the State Committee for Sports of Turkmenistan and the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports under the Government of Kyrgyzstan and the Memorandum of Understanding between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic were signed.

The aspects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Kyrgyz Republic at the regional and international levels, particularly within the UN, were considered.
The leaders of Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan emphasized the tremendous potential of mutually beneficial partnership, including in the fuel and energy, transport and communications, tourism and other sectors. The talks focused on the ways to broaden the range of exports and imports and to use the potential and opportunities to increase bilateral trade.
The leaders of Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan focused on the importance of starting the work of the Intergovernmental Turkmenistan-Kyrgyzstan Commission, noting that the sides had agreed to cooperate more closely within the Commission.
The sides exchanged views on further bilateral cultural and humanitarian relations and agreed to intensify Turkmen-Kyrgyz contacts in the spheres of science and education, culture and arts, sports and tourism.
