President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov attended the opening ceremony of the building complex of the Tahtabazar border detachment and the special regiment of the State Border Guard Service and reviewed the work being done to promote social and economic development of the region.
The Turkmen leader visited the barracks, canteen, kitchen and bakery, located on the territory of the new building complex. In a lively conversation with young warriors at the dining table the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces asked young border guards about the conditions of life and service and their plans for the future.
Then the President headed for the headquarters. The Turkmen leader visited the information centre supplied with the latest technologies and specialized equipment that allows local specialists to conduct video surveillance on the border and transmit electronic data. State-of-the-art communications and control facilities make it possible to respond safely and promptly to any emergency situation that may arise in any section of the state border.

The new building complex of the border detachment and the special regiment meets all modern requirements – it has the autonomous supply systems, spacious foyers, rooms with improved layout that have in-built furniture and household appliances, satellite communications devices, etc. The adjacent territory is planted with trees and shrubs.
Dozens of families of border force officers are the happy owners of new apartments. Designers and builders thought about young citizens of the town, for whom they built two playgrounds with swings, slides and other facilities for entertainment and leisure activities.
Along with comfortable apartments and classrooms supplied with multimedia equipment, the health centre with necessary medical equipment, gyms and sports fields are located on the territory of the building complex.
Then the Turkmen leader arrived by helicopter at the venue for the military exercise of the border troops. Specialized military equipment, including a 122mm multiple launch rocket system procured for Turkmen border guards was demonstrated on the special platform to the Turkmen leader. Then the President headed for the central control unit, located on the venue for the military exercise.
The aim of this year’s military exercise was to demonstrate the readiness of the valorous defenders of the Fatherland and military and law enforcement officers to ensure the security of the sacred borders of friendship and brotherhood as well as their effective military skills.
The unmanned reconnaissance aircraft, armoured vehicles, such as BMP-2, Cobra, BTR-80, Survivor, ZU-23 anti-aircraft gun, LRAD long-range acoustic device, Agusta-139 attack helicopters with Browning machine guns, T-72 tanks and other specialised vehicles were engaged in the military exercise. The combat aircrafts had appeared in the skies before the military exercise were completed. Turkmen combat pilots, who were at the helm of the modern winged machines, displayed the brilliant aerobatic skills.
The Armed Forces of Turkmenistan performed with honour the combat mission in the framework of this year’s military exercise and displayed the high level of combat training and the effective combat skills. The border troops showed that the borders of the Motherland were reliably protected and Turkmen border guards, who acquire and improve their knowledge, using state-of-the-art machines, equipment and weapons, enhanced the effectiveness of their activities.
