President of Turkmenistan receives Vice-President of the Asian Development Bank

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Vice-President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Wencai Zhang.

Expressing gratitude to the Turkmen leader for the opportunity of a personal meeting, the guest emphasized the willingness of the leading regional financial structure to further strengthen fruitful cooperation with dynamically developing Turkmenistan.

The sides exchanged the views on the prospects and opportunities for enhancing bilateral cooperation given the on-going ambitious reforms and development programmes in Turkmenistan. Expressing the readiness to intensify cooperation, the President of Turkmenistan and his guest agreed on the approaches to the implementation of joint projects aimed at ensuring further social and economic development of Turkmenistan and the whole region.

Mr. Wencai Zhang noted that the Asian Development Bank intended to continue providing technical and financial assistance in implementation of large-scale investment projects, including the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project.

The banking and financial, fuel and energy, transport and communications and energy sectors were specified as major areas of cooperation. It was noted that ADB was going to provide support to small and medium-size enterprises and training programmes in Turkmenistan.

In conclusion, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and his guest expressed belief in further development of mutually beneficial partnership.
