The opening ceremony of the building complex of A. Kekilov School of Pedagogy took place in Ashgabat to mark Day of Knowledge and Students. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov attended the opening ceremony.
The Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, the high-ranking officials of Mejlis, ministries and departments, public organisations, the Ashgabat Hyakim, the heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Turkmenistan, the honorary elders, media representatives, businessmen and students gathered together near the new building complex, located on Gerogly Street.
The President of Turkmenistan congratulated those present on Day of Knowledge and Students and the opening of the building complex of Aman Kekilov School of Pedagogy.
The Turkmen leader said that the reforms in the education sector had made it possible to open kindergartens, schools and higher educational institutions and introduce science advances and interactive and multimedia and computer technologies. A. Kekilov School of Pedagogy trains primary school teachers who are eligible and able to teach the Turkmen language and literature, mathematics, history, geography, English for fifth and sixth formers and kindergarten teachers who are eligible to teach the English language at kindergartens.
The President noted that teaching and educational activities in the national education sector were carried out in accordance with international standards. In the spheres of science, education and culture of Turkmenistan closely cooperates with the European Union and developed countries of the world. Schoolchildren and students in our country have received wide access to the Internet. Educational institutions, equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, have accumulated the national experience in training highly qualified specialists. The term of study at secondary schools was extended to 12 years. All this has given a powerful impetus to implement the reforms in the education sector.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that on that day first formers at secondary schools were making their first steps into the world of knowledge. Following the tradition, new computers are presented to all schoolchildren who are starting school for the first time. This is a vivid illustration of the concern of the state for young citizens so that they could receive modern education and improve computer literacy.
The Turkmen leader said that the state would continue to take measures to bring the national education system to the international level, create a favourable environment for integrated development of young people and promote the reforms that enable Turkmenistan to rank among the developed countries of the world.
The Turkmen leader noted that the conditions created at the new building complex of the educational institution allowed organizing and managing the training process in accordance with modern requirements.
To the applause of those present the President cut the ribbon and entered the school building.
The new building complex of A. Kekilov School of Pedagogy is built by the Turkish company Total. The six-storey building that covers a total area of 52, 600 square metres houses 8 lecture rooms for 50 and 80 students, 40 classrooms, the rooms for music, craft, fine art and computer technology lessons, the room for methodological studies and language laboratories.
The building complex also houses the museum, the medical room, the conference hall with seating capacity of 300 people, the conference room with lower seating capacity and the archives. The library with seating capacity of 100 seats where 30,000 books are stored is at the students’ disposal. The indoor gym, outdoor sports facilities and sports grounds are at the students’ disposal. They offer favourable conditions for playing football, volleyball, basketball and other sports. There are two four-storey hostels for 500 students, the canteen for 400 students and the swimming pools on the territory of the building complex.
The Turkmen leader instructed the high-ranking officials to install a bust of Aman Kekilov, after whom the Ashgabat School of Pedagogy is named, in the entrance hall of the educational institution. It is one of the oldest educational institutions that has trained thousands of school and kindergarten teachers over 90 years.
In addition to classrooms and lecture rooms, the building houses the classrooms for craft (cutting and sewing and cooking), art and music classes. The museum, library, medical room, teachers’ room and assembly hall occupy the first floor of the six-storey main building.
A. Kekilov School of Pedagogy has seven departments, namely the Turkmen language and literature, mathematics, social sciences, nature study and geography, school and preschool pedagogics and psychology, drawing, crafts, music and physical education, foreign languages and literature. The conditions at the new building complex are conducive to organizing and managing the training process at a higher level and allow admitting more applicants in the future.
The President said that he donated the Hyundai minibuses and buses and the truck crane to A. Kekilov School of Pedagogy.
