President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany in Turkmenistan Mr. Ralf Andreas Breth, who presented his letter of credence to the leader of Turkmenistan.

A lively exchange of views on a wide range of aspects of fruitful cooperation and the ways to intensify it given the development priorities of the two countries took place during the meeting.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the plenipotentiary representative of the Federal Republic of Germany emphasized with satisfaction that Turkmen-German relations in the cultural and humanitarian spheres, particularly in the health, pharmaceutical and high-tech sectors, had been dynamically developing in recent years.

Focusing on the exceptionally business-like character of long-term partnership and the tremendous potential to further it, the diplomat stressed that fruitful cooperation had become possible thanks in the constructive foreign policy of the President of Turkmenistan, who attaches great importance to international cooperation with the EU countries as well.

Vivid evidence for the growing interest of Germany’s business circles in strengthening their position in the promising Turkmen market is the successful joint projects, implemented in the basic sectors of Turkmen economy, including the oil and gas, textile, health, transport and communications, energy, agricultural and high-tech sectors, in cooperation with the German companies, dozens of which have opened their branches and representative offices in our country. It has become a tradition in Turkmenistan to host the Day of German Economy that facilitates partnership between the two countries and commodity producers and contributes to bringing cooperation to a qualitatively new level.

Confirming that Turkmenistan and Germany were committed to building up relations, the President of Turkmenistan and his guest called for the intensification of trade and economic cooperation in a wide range of areas and emphasized the importance of galvanizing and deepening humanitarian contacts, particularly in the spheres of science, culture, education, health care, sports and tourism.

In this context, focusing on the effectiveness of interaction between scientists and cultural workers of the two countries, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that a series of events would be held together with foreign scientists and specialists in 2017 in the framework of the Action Plan on the implementation of the State Programme for the collection, registration, research, preservation and protection of intangible cultural heritage of Turkmenistan for 2015-2020.

In conclusion, the President of Turkmenistan and the German Ambassador expressed belief that the constructive dialogue that served national interests of the friendly countries would continue to develop.
