President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired a regular meeting of the State Security Council, during which the work done by the military and law enforcement agencies in January-August and the issues related to further modernization of material and technical resources of these agencies were discussed.
The high-ranking officials of the military and law enforcement agencies reported on the work done since the beginning of the year and the fulfilment of the instructions on technical re-equipment of the subdivisions.
The draft Resolution on the establishment of a garrison of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces was presented to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces for consideration.
The report on the progress in implementing the action plan in collaboration with other agencies involved in the annual campaign – the Month of Road Traffic Safety, held each September under the theme “Road Traffic Safety – Peace in Our Lives”, was presented.
The report on the measures taken in January-August to prevent illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs was presented. It was noted that in accordance with the approved plan of action, awareness-raising and enlightening activities among citizens and social and cultural events aimed at encouraging citizens, specially youth, to follow a healthy lifestyle were held on a regular basis in cooperation with law enforcement agencies, health care institutions, local executive bodies and public organisations.
Commenting on the reports, the President noted that the sacred borders of our independent neutral state that were the boundary of friendship and good neighbourliness should serve as the reliable shield for protecting a peaceful and creative life of our people. Noting that the first garrison of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces in the history of our neutral Motherland will be established to protect the maritime borders of our homeland, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces focused on the historic importance of the document.
The Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed to organize the opening ceremony of the Merdana Hotel, built at the request of the Ministry of Defence in the Avaza national tourism zone, on a high level.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed the Minister of Internal Affairs to improve the measures for preventing fire and improving the efficiency of activities of the road police. This is the aim of the Month “Road Traffic Safety – Peace in Our Lives”, held in our country each September, that has proved effective.
Focusing on the need to take the most responsible approach to fulfil the tasks set to prosecutor’s offices, in particular strict supervision of the compliance with the provisions and regulations of legal acts, the Turkmen leader demanded that any attempts to violate existing national legislation should be supressed.
Focusing on the awesome responsibility laid upon judges, the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov ordered to continue to pay special attention to the personnel policy.
Identifying the major tasks to be fulfilled by customs services, the Turkmen leader spotlighted the careful selection and placement of personnel and technical re-equipment of customs checkpoints.
The President focused on the importance of providing professional legal assistance, including through providing legal advice when receiving citizens.
The Turkmen leader emphasized that our peace-loving country, guided by the Military Doctrine that is purely defensive in nature, would further strengthen the material and technical base of military and law enforcement agencies and pay special attention to the social aspects of life of the families of military servants.
