President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, during which the work done in the economic sectors in January-August was reviewed and the draft documents were discussed. The Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers presented the reports.
The report on the preparations for a regular meeting of the Elders’ Council, which will be held in Avaza Etrap in Turkmenbashi on September 10, was presented. The issues related to the constitutional reforms, the proposals on administrative and territorial reforms, etc. were put on the agenda of the meeting.
The preparations for a working visit of the government delegation led by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the United States to attend the 70th session of the UN General Assembly scheduled for September 24-27 was presented. The key priorities and constructive initiates of our country will be presented from the rostrum of the jubilee session of the UN General Assembly.
The report on Turkmenistan’s economic achievements in January-August was presented. In the reporting period, the GDP growth rate made 108.3 per cent, which testifies to the stable and progressive development of Turkmen economy. The growth rate in the industrial sector made 103.5 per cent, construction - 112.6 per cent, transport and communications - 111.9 per cent, trade – 112.7 per cent, agriculture - 112.3 per cent and services - 112 3 per cent. In the eight months the year, the growth rate of output rose to 107.2 percent as compared to the same period in 2014.
In January-August, the volume of retail trade increased by 19.4 per cent as compared with the same period in 2014. The prices for consumer goods and services rendered to the population were maintained within fixed limits.
In the eight months of the year, the rate of average wages at large and medium-sized enterprises was increased. Positive dynamics of foreign trade, the volume of which amounted to US$ 16.2 billion in the reporting period, was observed.
In the eight months of the year, the revenues of the State budget were implemented at 100.3 percent and the expenditures – at 84.7 per cent. In January-August, wages at budgetary organisations and state-run self-financing enterprises, pensions, state benefits and scholarships were paid off in a timely manner.
The information on the preparations for the International Exhibition and Science Conference on the Main Ways of Development of Turkmenistan’s Power Industry scheduled for September 12-13 was presented. The specialized forums aim to showcase the significant achievements and the prospects for future development of Turkmenistan’s power industry.
The report on the preparations for the opening ceremonies of the 504.4 MWt gas turbine power station, located in Derveze District in Ahal Velayat, the 500-kilometre power line from the Mary state power to the Atamyrat substation and the complex of substations was presented.
A delegation of our country will visit Mongolia to hold the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in the friendly country on September 22-24. Meetings at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science of Mongolia, concerts and an exhibition of the works decorative and applied art of the Turkmen people and museum collections are to be held.
The measures to develop the tourism industry are being taken. 69,412 tourists visited the country in the reporting period; the growth rate in this indicator made 106.6 per cent as compared with the same period in 2014. The growth rate of profits from the financial and economic activities of the State Committee for Tourism made 111.8 per cent, the profits in foreign currency rose to 101.3 per cent.
