President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania Bogdan Aurescu, who had arrived in the Turkmen capital.
An interested exchange of views on the status and prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Romania took place during the meeting. Underlining the high level of the interstate relations between Turkmenistan and Romania, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and his guest emphasized the wide opportunities for diversifying and deepening efficient cooperation in the whole its spectrum – in the trade an economic sphere as well as in humanitarian and cultural areas.
Power industry and transport and communications sector were specified among the priority areas for cooperation given ambitious regional and continental projects initiated by Turkmenistan. In particular, the significance of the project on creation of the transit and transport corridor that is to use the potential of the Caspian and Black Sea regions and create new economic routes for international cargo traffic.
It was noted that bilateral consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries held on a regular basis contributed to strengthening the constructive interstate dialogue. The Interstate Commission of Turkmenistan and Romania on economic and scientific and technological cooperation plays a key role as well. It was also underlined the willingness of Romanian businessmen in exploring the promising Turkmen market.
Speaking about cooperation in the humanitarian sphere as an integral element of the Turkmen-Romanian elations, the Turkmen leader and his guest called for the further promotion and intensification of fruitful relations in the spheres of education and professional development, science and culture. There are good opportunities for cooperation in the spheres of sports and tourism.
