President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Chairperson of the Interstate Council for Aviation and Air Space Use, Chairperson of the Interstate Aviation Committee Tatyana Anodina.
The Turkmen leader and his guest exchanged the views on the prospects of bilateral cooperation in the framework of the National Civil Aviation Development Programme of Turkmenistan for 2012-2030. The Turkmen leader noted that in accordance with the programme, the construction and reconstruction of airports, terminals and other engineering and technical facilities in the Turkmen capital and the regions of the country had been launched. Particular attention is paid to train highly qualified specialists, replenish the aviation fleet with ultramodern airliners and open new domestic and international air routes in the most cost-effective directions. The Turkmen leader emphasized that the measures had being taken in this sphere in compliance with the generally recognized standards and normd of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) – a specialized agency of the United Nations.
It was noted that wide opportunities for building up partnership opened within the ambitious projects on creation of an international transit transport hub at the crossroads of major trade routes on the continent implemented at the initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. In this regard, it was underlined the importance of the Resolution of the UN General Assembly “The Role of Transport and Transit Corridors in Ensuring International Cooperation for Sustainable Development”.
The Chairperson of the Interstate Council for Aviation and Air Space Use, Chairperson of the Interstate Aviation Committee presented President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov N. Ye. Zhukovsky Medal for his outstanding contribution to the development of Turkmen aviation.
