President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov conducted a videoconference meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, who is in charge of the agro-industrial sector and the velayat hyakims. The progress of seasonal agricultural activities was discussed in detail during the meeting.
The heads of regional administration reported on the current situation in the regions, in particular the progress in planting winter crops and harvesting cotton.
Focusing on the slow pace of the winter crops planting campaign as a consequence of the improper management of agricultural activities, the Turkmen leader expressed disapproval of the current situation and pointed out some significant shortcomings in the work of the hyakims. In particular, the winter crops planting campaign in some regions is behind schedule. In this regard, the President demanded that the analysis of the situation would be conducted and the circumstances impeding the agricultural activities would be eliminated.
The Turkmen leader expressed dissatisfaction at the improper management of the cotton campaign in particular etraps in the regions.
The President emphasized that the achievement of the objectives of the national rural development programme was inseparably linked with the creation of the best working conditions for agricultural producers.
Stressing that the quality and effectiveness of agricultural production depend on the thoughtful management decisions, the Turkmen leader expressed severe disproval of the work done by the heads of regional administration and demanded that the results and methods of work should be analysed and the measures to improve it should be taken.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers E. Orazgeldyev reported on the situation on agricultural fields throughout the country, in particular the progress of planting winter crops and harvesting cotton. The Deputy Chairman reported on the fulfilment of the Turkmen leader’s instructions on the development of the agro-industrial sector.
Commenting on the report, the President said that through favourable conditions and opportunities existed, the agricultural reform was moving slowly and advanced management methods were not introduced effectively in the agro-industrial sector, as was illustrated by the slow pace of the important agricultural campaigns. Emphasizing that new requirements, such as effective and well thought-out management, innovative thinking, energetic actions and proactive and diligent approach are set today to the agricultural sector, the Turkmen leader instructed the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers to develop systematic measures to increase the effectiveness of the agricultural industry.
Summing up the discussion, the President once again specified the priority tasks to be fulfilled and instructed the high-ranking officials to thoroughly analyse the recommendations provided during the videoconference, draw conclusions and ensure that on-going work in the regions was managed properly.
