Important issues of the domestic policy and draft documents discussed at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, during which the important issues of the domestic policy and the draft documents were discussed. The members of the State Security Council and the hyakims of the regions and Ashgabat were invited to attend the meeting.

Addressing those present, the Turkmen leader noted that Kurban bairamy that was celebrated at the national level throughout the country for three days was the triumph of the noble aspirations of the soul, such as compassion, generosity, high spirituality and benevolence.

Presenting the agenda of the meeting, the President noted that the government delegation of our country would participate in the 70th session of the UN General Assembly, from the rostrum of which Turkmenistan would present its views on the events taking place all over the world and put forward a number of international initiatives.

The President signed the Decree on the appointment of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Belarus N. Shagulyev Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Estonia.

It was noted that Turkmen parliamentarians participated in the Autumn Meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, held in the capital of Mongolia on September 15-18. Currently, a delegation of Mejlis of Turkmenistan is on a working visit in Yerevan with the view to share experiences and enhance interparliamentary relations.

The report on the preparations for the V Asian Indoors and Martial Arts Games and the events marking International Day of Older Persons, celebrated on October 1, was presented.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the Resolution approving the programme for the training of scientific workers and the Decree on the admission of foreign citizens to higher educational institutions in our country in the 2015-2016 academic year.

The information on the progress in implementing the projects aimed at fostering the development of Turkmenistan ‘s power industry, the on-going work on a number of important facilities in Ashgabat and the facilities to be put into operation in the near future was presented.

The report on the preparations for the opening of the Altyn Asyr shopping centre after reconstruction was presented. The eight-storey building houses 17 shops that offer a wide range of food and industrial goods, five cafes, children’s playgrounds, etc.

The report on the activities of Turkmenistan-Belarus Intergovernmental Commission for economic cooperation and the business forum of the two countries was presented.

The President signed the Decree approving the use of excise stamps on tobacco products and alcoholic drinks imported through the customs borders of Turkmenistan and alcoholic drinks produced in our country.

The reports highlighted the progress of seasonal agricultural activities and the measures taken to speed up the cotton campaign and the winter crops sowing campaign.

The velayat hyakims reported on the current situation in the regions, the fulfilment of the Turkmen leader’s instructions to speed up the cotton campaign and the winter crops sowing campaign and the measures taken to achieve the objectives of the national rural development programme. The information on the preparations for the celebrations in honour of the remarkable dates and the progress of the construction work on a number of facilities was presented.

The Ashgabat Hyakim reported on the current situation in the capital city, the fulfilment of the Turkmen leader’s instructions to create a favourable environment in Ashgabat and keep all the districts of the city clean and neat. The Ashgabat Hyakim reported on the measures taken to hold the Kurban bairamy celebrations in a proper manner and install 60 swings – the main attribute of the celebrations – on the central squares and the parts of the city, allocated for cultural actions and events.

The high-ranking officials of military and law enforcement agencies reported on the current situation at the agencies under their supervision and the measures taken to strengthen the material and technical base of these agencies and maintain public order throughout the country during the Kurban bairamy celebrations.

Focusing on the need to take a thoughtful and comprehensive approach to the Independence Day and the military parade in honour of the national holiday, which plays an important and significant role in the life of the Turkmen people, the President gave specific instructions to the high-ranking military and law enforcement officials.

Other issues of the domestic policy were discussed and the decisions were adopted at the meeting of the Cabinet.
