President of Turkmenistan gives kurbanlyk sadaqah in Gypjak

These days Turkmenistan is celebrating Kurban bairamy – the bright holiday that is sacred to all Muslims all over the world. The Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave kurbanlyk sadaqah at the Turkmenbashi Mosque of Spirituality in Gypjak on the first day of the blessed holiday.

The Turkmen leader paid tribute to the memory of the first President of Turkmenistan and laid a wreath at the mausoleum. The ceremony participants, including the Chairperson of Mejlis, cabinet ministers, high-ranking military and law enforcement officials, hyakims of the regions and Ashgabat, heads of diplomatic missions accredited to Turkmenistan, representatives of public organisations, foreign businessmen, mullahs, the elders and local citizens laid their bouquets of flowers. The memorial prayer was offered up under the domes of the mausoleum.

The memorial prayer was offered up at the family tomb of the first President of Turkmenistan and his family.

Cordially greeting all those, who had gathered together in the building to participate in sadaqah, the President noted that festive namaz was being performed and sadaqahs were being given in honour of blessed Kurban bairamy at the mosques throughout the country on that day, when the prayers for the prosperity of our motherland and the unity and wellbeing of the Turkmen people were being offered up in accordance with the age-old traditions of our ancestors. The Turkmen leader addressed those present, saying: “May the Almighty accept all prayers offered up and all sadaqahs given! Kabul bolsun!”

The Turkmen leader said that we attached great importance to the preservation and development of national traditions and customs, in accordance with which Kurban bairamy was celebrated at the national level in our country each year.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov cordially congratulated all those present and the Turkmen people on the forthcoming 24th anniversary of independence, emphasizing that the tremendous transformations that had taken place in the country for nearly a quarter century changed the Turkmen land beyond recognition and modern buildings and facilities had adorned cities and villages of our homeland. All the sectors of the national economy were rapidly developing.

Noting that at the recent meeting of the Elders Council in Avaza the accomplishments and achievements of our country had been discussed thoroughly and the objectives for the further development of Turkmenistan had been identified, the Turkmen leader emphasized that all the measures taken were aimed at guaranteeing a peaceful and prosperous life to the native people.

December this year marks 20 years of the legal status of neutrality of our sovereign Fatherland. The Turkmen leader said that this remarkable date, which is a landmark in the modern historical epoch, would be celebrated solemnly and widely.

In this context President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that independent Turkmenistan pursued the policy of peace in compliance with the legal status of neutrality, taking consistent steps to build up friendly relations with other countries and peoples of the world.

We are leaving for the United States, where we will participate in the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly. During the session we will exchange views with heads of state on the prospects of mutually beneficial cooperation.

Addressing the mullahs, the Turkmen leader asked them to offer up a prayer. In accordance with the noble tradition, the mullahs offered up the tebyarek prayer.

The ritual prayer was offered up after sadaqahs had been completed.

September 24-25-26 – the days of the Kurban bairamy celebrations are announced the days off in our country in accordance with the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, issued with the view to preserve age-old spiritual and moral values of the Turkmen people, guided by the noble principles of humanity, benevolence and generosity.
