President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who was on a working visit to the United States to attend the Summit for the adoption of the post-2015 development agenda, held in the framework of the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly, returned to Ashgabat.
The Turkmen leader conducted a working meeting with the Chairperson of Mejlis, cabinet members, high-ranking military and law enforcement officials and hyakims of Ahal Velayat and Ashgabat at the Ashgabat International Airport.
Speaking at the meeting, the President noted that the constructive initiatives and proposals of independent neutral Turkmenistan put forward from the rostrum of the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly were aimed at promoting the welfare and prosperity of all the peoples of the world as well as constructive international cooperation in mutual interests.
Reaffirming the continued commitment of Turkmenistan to strategic partnership with the UN in strengthening global peace and security and facilitating sustainable development on regional and global scale, the Turkmen leader underlined the intention of our country to continue to take an active part in the affairs of the international community and address urgent challenges and problems, thus becoming a more promising and effective focal point in Asia to promote the UN Goals.
Reporting on the issues related to the international initiatives of Turkmenistan, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs R. Meredov noted that thanks to the efforts of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov our country was making a significant contribution to the global situation on the global development goals. The Deputy Chairman reported on the work carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in this field.
