Work done by military and law enforcement agencies in January-September reviewed

President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired a meeting of the State Security Council, during which the work done by the military and law enforcement agencies in January-September was reviewed.

The heads of the military and law enforcement agencies presented the reports on the current situation at the ministries and departments under their supervision and the fulfilment of the Turkmen leader's instructions.

The report on the on-going work on the strengthening of the national security system and modernization of its material and technical base was presented.

The report on the work carried out to ensure the inviolability of state borders was presented.

The report on the on-going work on the strengthening and modernization of the material and technical base of the Armed Forces, training of qualified military personnel, promotion of military education and science, improvement of the conditions of service of the defenders of the Fatherland and enhancement of the prestige of military specialties was presented. The report on the preparations for the national holiday - the 24th anniversary of sacred independence of the country and the celebrations, including a military parade in honour of the remarkable date was presented.

The report on the work carried out by the Ministry of Internal Affairs to prevent crime and the activities carried out in the framework of the Road Safety - Peace of Our Life Month was presented.

The report on the work done by the prosecutor's offices in the reporting period to supervise the execution of the rule of law in all spheres of life of the state and society was presented.

The report on the measures taken since the beginning of the year to improve the judicial system and bring it in full compliance with universally recognised international standards was presented.

The information on the specific steps taken by the State Service for the Protection of Security of the Healthy Society in the framework of the programme to combat illicit drug trafficking was presented.

The report on the fulfilment of the Turkmen leader's instructions to improve the work of customs posts and equip them with advanced technologies so that they would more thoroughly inspect the goods crossing the border of Turkmenistan was presented.

The report on the implementation of the specific instructions given by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief to improve the activities of the State Migration Service was presented.

The report on the work done by the Ministry of Justice for the nine months of the year, in such as an important sphere of its activity as the comprehensive development and improvement of national legislation, was presented.

Emphasizing once again the need to draft and adopt new laws, demanded by our time and brought in compliance with existing standards and international best legislative practices, the Turkmen leader demanded that specific measures should be taken to improve the mechanism for the elucidation of newly adopted legal acts to the population.

The relevant instructions were given to the members of the State Security Council in the context of the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.

Other issues were discussed and the decisions were adopted at the meeting of the State Security Council.

Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov conducted a meeting of the State Security Council at the Ministry of National Security and the Ministry of Defence, during which a number of organizational issues were discussed.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the Decree on the dismissal of Secretary of the State Security Council Lieutenant General Ya. Berdiev from the post of Minister of National Security due to the transfer to another job and his appointment as Minister of Defence. The Turkmen leader appointed Lieutenant General G. Hojaberdiev Minister of National Security.

The President signed the Decree on the dismissal of Major General B. Gundogdyev from the post of Minister of Defence due to the transfer to another job and his appointment as the commander of the garrison of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan.

In a solemn atmosphere, the newly appointed high ranking officials swore an oath of their eternal devotion to the Fatherland and the President of Turkmenistan and assured that they would continue to faithfully perform their professional military and patriotic duty to serve the people and Motherland.
