The Navy Day celebrations in Turkmenbashi town were held with the participation of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The programme of the celebrations included the opening ceremony of the building complex of the Naval Institute of the Ministry of Defence.
To the thunderous applause of those present the President of Turkmenistan cut the ribbon and entered the building. An exhibition of model military ships, built in different years, was arranged in the main building of the Naval Institute. The Turkmen leader visited the main building of the Naval Institute to see the conditions created for students and lecturers. Military equipment and machines were displayed in the yard of the Naval Institute.
President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held an enlarged meeting of the State Security Council in the conference hall of the Naval Institute.
The Turkmen leader cordially congratulated those present on Turkmenistan Navy Day and the opening of the new building complex of the Naval Institute and wished them good health, happiness and every success in their military service.
The Turkmen leader said that on that day the first naval parade would be held in the western region of the country. The parade of the Naval Forces of Turkmenistan will demonstrate once again that the sea coast of independent neutral Turkmenistan are in safe hands as well as showcase the high defence capability and military strength of the Naval Forces of Turkmenistan.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that to ensure military security of Turkmenistan was a crucial aspect of the state policy in compliance with the Military Doctrine of Turkmenistan, which is purely defensive in nature. Therefore, the first Naval Forces garrison in the history of our Motherland was established to ensure peace and security of our borders in the Caspian Sea.
Touching upon the upcoming national holiday – Independence Day, the President instructed the high-ranking military and law enforcement officials to submit the proposals for the presentation of state awards and the conferment of military and special ranks and class ranks to military and law enforcement officials who had contributed to enhancing defence capability of independent Turkmenistan, ensuring security and maintaining the rule of law.
During the meeting, the Turkmen leader considered the issues relating to the management structure of the Naval Forces garrison under the command of B. Gundogdyev.
The ceremony of conferring the class ranks and military ranks to the high-ranking officials of military and law enforcement agencies took place during the meeting.
The Decrees of President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov were read out. In accordance with the documents, the rank of Colonel general is conferred to Minister of Defence Lieutenant General Ya. Berdiev, the 2nd qualification class rank is conferred to Chairman of the Supreme Court B. Charyev and the class rank of junior counsellor of justice is conferred to Minister of Justice B. Muhamedov.
