President of Turkmenistan holds a videoconference

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov holds a videoconference with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers in charge of the agricultural sector and the velayat hyakims. The objectives of social and economic development of the regions, including the progress of seasonal agricultural activities, and the preparations for the celebrations in honour of the 24th anniversary of sacred independence of the Motherland were discussed.

The heads of regional administration reported on the current situation in the regions, in particular the progress of the cotton and winter crop planting campaigns. The reports on the fulfilment of the Turkmen leader’s instructions to further develop the social sphere and improve social and living conditions of citizens in the regions were presented. The information on the preparations for the Independence Day celebrations was presented.

Commenting on the reports, the Turkmen leader instructed to take the necessary measures to use all available facilities in order to speed up the cotton and winter crop planting campaigns.

The Turkmen leader focused on the importance of taking an integrated approach to achieve the objectives of the national rural development programme. In this regard, the Turkmen leader gave specific instructions to the velayat hyakims and ordered that the construction projects would be completed in a proper and timely manner.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also emphasized the need to hold the events marking the national holidays and the 24th anniversary of independence on a high organisational level.

The Turkmen leader also instructed to hold the events in the framework of the Mary - the cultural capital of the Turkic world 2015 international project in a proper manner.

The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers E. Orazgeldiev reported on the fulfilment of the President's instructions to allocate the plots of land in the regions and Ashgabat to the members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs with the view to increase agricultural and livestock output in the country. The layouts of the plots to be allocated to entrepreneurs for construction of processing plants, farms and greenhouses and agricultural fields were presented to the Turkmen leader for consideration.

Commenting on the report, the Turkmen leader noted that Turkmen entrepreneurs were exploring with confidence new market segments, manufacturing technologies and modern management methods, which enabled them to achieve good results, as illustrated by the accomplishments and increasing participation of small and medium-sized enterprises in enhancing the competitiveness of the agricultural sector and meeting domestic demand in environmentally clean food and vitamin products.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that the establishment of agricultural associations and enterprises and the provision of material resources in sufficient amounts were the key aspects of strategies for the development of Turkmenistan’s agriculture industry, underlining the need to more actively involve entrepreneurs, including in construction of industrial facilities.

The Turkmen leader said that the state would continue to provide the necessary support to entrepreneurship, assigning it an important role in developing many sectors of the national economy, achieving food abundance and improving the welfare of citizens. In this regard, the President gave specific instructions to the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers.

Summing up the discussions, the Turkmen leader specified the priority tasks for the velayat hyakims to be fulfilled and demanded that all the necessary measures should be taken to effectively coordinate and manage the work in the regions.
