President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe, who arrived to the Turkmen capital on his first official visit, will hold the talks in Ashgabat on October 23.

Exceptional effectiveness of Turkmen-Japanese meetings at different levels vividly testifies to the existence of favourable prerequisites for the intensification of traditional contacts in all spheres, particularly the continued enhancement of trade and economic cooperation through implementing the impressive multifaceted potential, stimulating investment activity and establishing direct contacts between industrialists and entrepreneurs.

Fruitful partnership and business proposals of partners from the Land of the Rising Sun illustrate the huge interest in Turkmenistan, recognized as a global energy power, and the on-going development programmes in Turkmenistan’s oil and gas refining and chemical industries.

In the context of the emerging prospects of bilateral cooperation, it should be noted that it covers a wide range of areas. These include the industrial sector, transport and communications, health care, sports and many other spheres, where cooperation is deemed most in demand and promising.

Seeking to speed up its economic growth and therefore modernization of the basic sectors, Turkmenistan is keenly interested in Japan’s advanced expertise in science and education as well as in the high-tech sector. In this regard, particular attention is paid to the training of highly qualified specialists at major research centres in Japan and an exchange of experiences in conducting nanotechnology research and creating highly profitable industries.

Contacts in the spheres of culture and arts are strengthened significantly with every passing year.

The agreements to be achieved during the upcoming Turkmen-Japanese talks in the capital of Turkmenistan will be included in the package of bilateral documents, which will certainly contribute to filling fruitful cooperation established over the last two decades with practical content meeting the long-term interests of Turkmenistan and Japan.
