President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired a joint meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers and the State Security Council. The important domestic policy issues and the draft documents were put on the agenda of the meeting.

Congratulating the members of the Cabinet of Ministers and the State Security Council and the people of the country on the main holiday of our neutral state – Independence Day, the President wished all citizens of Turkmenistan good health, family wellbeing and a peaceful and happy life.

The report on the outcomes of the recent visit of the Prime Minister of Japan to Turkmenistan was presented.

The report on the preparations for the visit of President of Ukraine Petr Poroshenko to Turkmenistan, scheduled for October 28-29, was presented.

The report on the results of the 23rd meeting of the Steering Committee of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, held in Ashgabat, was presented. It was noted that the construction of one of the largest gas pipelines on the continent along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India route was to start in December as planned.

The information on the progress of construction of Atamyrat-Ymamnazar-Akina railway was presented. The results of the international tender for the construction of two railway stations were submitted to the Interagency Commission for consideration. It is planned to start construction work on a 3-kilometre section that stretches from Ymamnazar to Akina settlement in Afghanistan in the near future.

The report on the measures taken in preparation for the V Asian Indoors and Martial Arts Games, which will be held at the Ashgabat Olympic Village in 2017, was presented.

The programme of the science conference that will mark the 22th anniversary of the introduction of the national currency – Turkmenistan manat was presented to the Turkmen leader for consideration.

The information on the results of the ninth session of Mejlis of Turkmenistan of the fifth convocation, during which a number of laws and legal acts had been considered and adopted, was presented.

The report on ongoing seasonal agricultural activities focused on the successful completion of the winter crops planting campaign and the fulfilment of the contractual obligations for cotton production.

Commenting on the report on the improvement of profitability of the enterprises affiliated with Turkmenhaly State Association and the sale of their products, the Turkmen leader approved the proposal for the sale of surplus of Saraja wool via Turkmenhaly State Association on external markets.

The report on the progress in implementing the Ashgabat development programme was presented. The information on the preparations for the International Trade Fair, which will be held at the Exhibition Centre Sergi Kosgi in Ashgabat on November 4-6, was presented. The programme of the cultural actions and the opening ceremonies of social and cultural facilities to be held in November was presented to the Turkmen leader for consideration.

The high-ranking officials of law enforcement agencies reported to President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the ongoing work to maintain law and order. Emphasis was placed on the fulfilment of the Turkmen leader’s instructions to prepare and hold the festive events and celebrations in honour of the 24th anniversary of independence in a proper manner.

Following the noble tradition, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the Decree on the pardon of 1,020 convicted persons in honour of the 24th anniversary of independence of the Motherland. The Turkmen leader instructed the high-ranking officials ensure that the pardoned persons would be employed.

Other issues were considered and the decisions were adopted during the meeting.
