On occasion of the 24th anniversary of Independence of our state, President of Turkmenistan attended the ceremony of laying flowers to the Monument of Independence that symbolizes the freedom, power, creative potential, peace-loving policy and the happy future of the independent Turkmen state.
By tradition, the main festivities started in the National Park of Independence, the magnificent memorial complex – a symbol of grandiose achievements of the modern history of the people of Turkmenistan.
Early in the morning, thousands of Turkmen citizens and guests, who arrived in Ashgabat to take part in the festivities on occasion of the Independence Day, gathered together at the complex. The national green flags soaring in the wind, bright colors of fragrant flowers and happy smiles of people created the solemn, exciting atmosphere of the big national holiday causing a sense of pride and patriotism.
Among the ceremony participants were the Chairperson of the Mejlis, cabinet ministers, heads of military and law-enforcement agencies, ministries and departments, representatives of the public organisations, ambassadors of Turkmenistan to foreign states, heads of diplomatic missions and international organisations accredited in Turkmenistan, foreign businessmen, journalists, the elders, students as well as members of the foreign delegations and our compatriots living abroad, who had arrived in the Turkmen capital to take part in the festive events to mark the 24th anniversary of Independence of Turkmenistan.
The ceremony participants cordially greeted President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The Turkmen leader walked on the alley, along which the Guard of Honour of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan stood.
The National Anthem of Turkmenistan sounded. In a solemn atmosphere, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov laid a wreath of flowers to the magnificent memorial complex, the golden spire of which proudly rises into the sky symbolizing the aspiration for the happy future of the independent Turkmen state. The flowers are the symbol of the eternal memory and respect to our heroic ancestors and their deeds in the centuries-old struggle for the freedom and independence of the nation.
Following the Turkmen leader, the ceremony participants laid flowers to the monument. In a few minutes, the square in front of the Monument of Independence was covered with a bright flower carpet.
