President of Turkmenistan attends the opening ceremonies of the flagpole and mosque in Dashoguz

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made a working trip to Dashoguz, where the Turkmen leader attended the opening ceremonies of the square with the flagpole for the State Flag of Turkmenistan and the mosque.

The plane of the Turkmen leader landed at the airport in Dashoguz. Chairman of the Board of Directors of Altcom A. Tislenko informed the President on the work being done by the contractors at the Dashoguz airport, in particular the completion of the first construction stage of the runway, the progress of construction of the passenger and cargo terminals, taxiways, aircraft parking areas and air traffic control towers. By the way, the airliner of the President of Turkmenistan was the first airplane to land on the new runway.

Then the President attended the opening ceremony of the Baidak square in Dashoguz, which represented the architectural ensemble consisting of the majestic building of the Ruhiet Palace, N. Andalib State Music and Drama Theatre and the Dashoguz Velayat Library. The new square with the 100-metre flagpole was built by the local construction companies.

The Chairperson of Mejlis, cabinet ministers, heads of law enforcement and military agencies, ministries and departments, hyakims of regions and the capital, Turkmen ambassadors accredited in foreign countries, representatives of public organisations, the elders and numerous local citizens.

The green banner of our sacred flag was raised on the flagpole. Those presented applauded the solemn moment. A gorgeous wreath was laid at the foot of the flagpole on behalf of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Then the ceremony participants laid their bouquets of flowers.

Many factors, including the natural factors, such as wind and seismic effects, were taken into consideration when designing the flagpole. The banner weighs hundreds of kilogrammes. This structure will look particularly impressive in the nighttime when the huge mast of the flagpole shines in the floodlights.

By the way, the opening ceremonies of the flagpoles have been held in Mary and Turkmenabat. The highest 133-metre flagpole in Ashgabat was inscribed on the Guinness World Records in 2010.

Then the Turkmen leader attended the opening ceremony of a new mosque. It was built by the Turkish company 5M on Gerogly Avenue on the territory of the new woodland park. The park was planted with the participation of the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in 2013.

The new architectural complex, consisting of several white-marble buildings, covers an area of 60,000 square metres. These include the mosque designed for 3,000 visitors, the pavilion for sadaqahs designed for 1,500 visitors and the auxiliary buildings. The three-storey hotel has 84 rooms, including the suites that offer favourable conditions to 200 guests.

The mosque is built in the best traditions of national architecture. The diameter of the central mosaic dome is 38 metres, the height is 40 metres and the height of each of the four minarets is 63 metres.

The Mufti of Turkmenistan, mullahs, imams from all the regions and the capital city, Deputy Chairman of the Elders Council and the honourable elders greeted the Turkmen leader at the ceremony venue.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov talked to the respected elders, about their life, everyday concerns and opinion on the transformations taking place in the country and the velayat and listened to their proposals and wishes.

President of Turkmenistan entered the building of the mosque where he could see the conditions created for the performance of rituals.

The Mufti of Turkmenistan read tovir – the prayer for peace and prosperity of the Motherland. After the prayer had been concluded, the Turkmen leader gave the Mufti of Turkmenistan the Holy Quran as a gift for the mosque.

Then the President of Turkmenistan headed to the two-storey building designed for sadaqahs where a festive meal was arranged to mark the opening ceremony.

The Turkmen leader greeted all those invited to join the festive meal. The Turkmen leader said that Kunya Urgench that left an indelible mark in the history of world civilization, the mausoleum of the great Pir Najm-ad-Din Kubra with the ancient Uch yuz altmysh necropolis that testifies to the tombs of the saints were located on the territory of Dashoguz Velayat. The President said many unique historical and cultural monuments that originate in the depth were located on the territory of velayat.

The Turkmen leader emphasized that the Turkmen people treated with great respect the glorious centuries-old history of their ancestors, cherished spiritual values and maintained ancient traditions, customs and rituals. The President noted that these principles underlay the construction of the new mosque in the centre of Dashoguz Velayat. The President said that festive namaz and prayers for the wellbeing of our independent Motherland, a prosperous and happy life of the people would be offered up there during the holidays.

Then the President gave the floor to the Mufti, who offered up the prayer tebyarek before the sadaqah. After the festive meal had been concluded, the prayer ayat-tovir was offered up.

After the sadaqah had been concluded, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov cordially bade farewell to those present and left the venue.
