President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov conducted a meeting of the State Security Council, during which the work done by the military and law enforcement agencies in January-October and the measures taken to optimize their activities were discussed.
The heads of the military and law enforcement agencies presented the reports on the progress in implementing the large-scale military reform and the measures taken to strengthen the material and technical base of the Armed Forces, train qualified personnel and create favourable conditions for life and service of military servants and their families.
The report on the measures taken to maintain public order and the rule of law in the country and prevent traffic accidents and violations of traffic rules was presented. The information on the on-going work on improvement of the national legislation and judicial system and the measures taken to deliver advanced training courses for judges was presented.
The reports on the measures taken to protect the state border and fight against drug abuse and drug trafficking as the most dangerous social evil were presented. The information on the measures taken to optimize activities of the State Migration Service was presented. Commenting on the reports, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan, as a sovereign state committed to the principles of positive neutrality, should enhance defence capacity of the national army that served as the reliable shield for peace and security in the country and the welfare of the people.
The President expressed satisfaction with the high organizational level of the Independence Day military parade that had demonstrated the increased capability of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan.
The President emphasized that the maintenance of peace and public and social stability in the country stood as a crucial determining factor that contributed to the accelerated advancement of our country on the chosen path of progress and prosperity.
Focusing on the need to ensure traffic safety on roads and safe and comfortable traffic conditions throughout the country, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that some violations had been committed and instructed to carry out an investigation on them and impose penalties established by law. The President expressed dissatisfaction with the work done by the Minister of Internal Affairs and demanded that the shortfalls be eliminated as soon as possible.
Emphasizing the need for the most responsible approach to fulfilling the tasks set to prosecutor’s offices, the Turkmen leader demanded that citizens’ petitions be considered thoroughly and strict control over the compliance with laws be implemented.
Congratulating officers and specialists of the State Customs Service on their professional holiday and commending their contribution to maintaining peace and security in the country, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed them to use most effectively advanced technologies and equipment at modern customs terminals and border checkpoints.
Summing up the discussions, the Turkmen leader gave specific instructions to the heads of the military and law enforcement agencies. The President emphasized that particular attention should be paid to social issues, first of all, the creation of favourable living conditions for the defenders of the motherland and law enforcement officers.
