Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon sent a video congratulatory message to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Turkmen people on occasion of the 20th anniversary of the status of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan.
In his message, Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon said that he had visited Turkmenistan as the Secretary-General of the United Nations twice. One of these visits has taken place this year. “Turkmenistan is a beautiful country with original traditions and customs, rich culture and beautiful nature.”
Noting that Turkmenistan was closely cooperating with the United Nations to promote peace, justice and a prosperous life of people, Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon expressed gratitude to the Government and people of Turkmenistan for providing strong support to the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia in Ashgabat and putting forward the positive initiatives to maintain peace in the region. The Secretary-General of the United Nations expressed belief that the United Nations and Turkmenistan would continue to work together in the future to ensure peace, security and sustainable development and protect of human rights of the Turkmen people, in the Central Asian region and beyond.
