Today, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has met with President of Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, who arrived in Turkmenistan for participation in the high-level International Conference in honour of the 20th anniversary since obtaining by our country of the status of permanent positive neutrality.
Having exchanged views on some aspects of regional and international policy, being of mutual interest, the interlocutors with satisfaction ascertained affinity or coincidence of positions of both states on the basic points of the global agenda that allows them to cooperate effectively on the world arena.
The important joint projects, being realized within the last years, including the grandiose project of XXI century- construction of a transnational gas pipeline Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China, which opened new horizons for mutually beneficial partnership, are vivid evidence of efficiency of long-term partnership. As it is known, Uzbekistan also supported and expressed the readiness to take part in other not less significant project - creation of the international transport-transit corridor “Central Asia - the Near East” (Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman). Its implementation urged not only to promote the expansion of trade and economic cooperation between the countries of the Central Asia, Near and Middle East, but also to become the effective factor of maintenance of sustainable development in regional and international scale.
Within the framework of the meeting, in the course of the detailed discussion of key aspects of the Turkmen-Uzbek partnership and prospects of its diversification on basic directions, being of mutual interest, it was stated mutual aim of the parties at further deepening of productive ties in political, economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres taking into account available mutual interest, commonness of cultural and historical traditions of brotherly people as well as basic priorities of modern socio-economic development of two neighboring countries.
