Today, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has met with President of Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Gani, who arrived in Ashgabat for participation in the solemnities devoted to the 20th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality.
In the course of the meeting, the partnership theme in fuel-energy sphere, and particularly, the starting ceremony of construction of the Turkmen site of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline planned for tomorrow became a separate subject of interested discussion. It will become the first important stage of practical realization of the large energy project urged to bring well-being to the people of each of the countries - its participants and whole region as a whole, becoming the original bridge of mutually beneficial cooperation. In this context, the guest has expressed complete support by the Afghan party of initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan, concerning maintenance of global energy safety, socio-economic revival of Afghanistan, strengthening of peace and stability in the region and all over the planet as well as solution of other vital problems of the present.
One of large-scale projects, which in the future will unite neighbouring countries - construction of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan railway, which commissioning, certainly, will give a new impulse to economic development of the countries-participants and the Central Asia as a whole, will create favorable conditions for attraction of investments, diversification of cooperation with other regions. We also consider this project as a part of our joint efforts on restoration of Afghanistan, said President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The head of the Turkmen state also noted that taking into account new powerful energy objects under construction in our country, Turkmenistan is ready to increase volumes of deliveries of the electric power in the Afghan direction in future.
