President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers at the Congress Centre of the Avaza national tourism zone. The important domestic policy issues and the draft documents were discussed at the meeting.

The Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers presented the reports on the measures taken to develop the financial and economic system, improve macroeconomic indicators and fulfil the Turkmen leader’s instructions to ensure the observance of laws in financial relations.

The reports on the measures taken to enhance the production capacity and export potential of Turkmenistan’s oil and gas industry and the progress of construction work on the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline was presented.

The information on the current situation in the agro-industrial sector, the preparations for the opening ceremonies of water supply facilities in Ahal Velayat was presented. The new facilities will supply irrigation water to virgin lands in Altyn Asyr and Kaahkha Etrap. The manifold was built from the Karakum River to agricultural lands. The new water-lifting facilities with pumping units will make it possible to supply water in sufficient quantity to agricultural lands, located above the level of the Karakum River.

Commenting on the report, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov focused on the important role of the newly built water facilities. Expressing dissatisfaction with insufficient water supply to agricultural lands in Ahal and Balkan Velayat and the low pace of ploughing activities, the President gave specific instructions to speed up the on-going work in these regions. The Turkmen leader demanded that the complex measures be taken to prepare the subdivisions of the agro-industrial sector in a proper and timely manner for planting cotton and other agricultural crops.

The reports on the current situation at the subdivisions of the industrial sector and the progress of modernization of the chemical enterprises throughout the country were presented.

The Turkmen leader gave instructions to maintain the environmental wellbeing of the Caspian seashore and take further measures to develop and landscape Avaza national tourism zone.

The reports on the measures taken to improve the efficiency of work of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs in the trade and services sectors, stimulate trade and economic relations and strengthen the industrial base of these sectors were presented.

The report on the programme of cultural events marking the remarkable dates and the opening ceremonies of social and cultural facilities and the on-going work on the improvement of activities in the cultural sphere, publishing services and mass media was presented.

The information on the on-going flu control measures was presented. It was noted that the measures on mass prevention of influenza and other acute viral respiratory infections had been enhanced in Turkmenistan, taking an increase in the number of A/H1N1 virus cases in many countries into consideration. As of today, no A/H1N1 cases have been reported in our country. The programme of action to control the virus and prevent its distribution was adopted. The level of hygiene and sanitary control and immunization and epidemiological surveillance was increased.

The proposals for the improvement of transport infrastructure in Tyaza zaman village was presented to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for consideration. It is planned to build a 90-metre suspension road bridge along the road that stretches to Tyaza zaman village in Derveze Etrap, Ahal Velayat. The bridge will have the width of 33 metres and three lanes in each directions.

The proposal for the reconstruction of Ashgabat-Geokdepe highway that has the length of 49 kilometres and the width of 47 metres and the construction of a road bridge over the railway with the length of 108 metres and the width of 42 metres were presented for consideration.

The information on the preparatory work for a meeting of the Interagency Commission for the Caspian Sea was presented. The agenda of the meeting will focus on the work done in 2015 and the objectives and priority fields of work of the Commission to be done in 2016 in the context of the proposals of the Turkmen side.

Crucial importance is attached to the project of the Avaza national tourism zone, located on the ecologically clean shore of the Caspian Sea. The environmental aspect is the benchmark for the on-going large-scale landscaping activities that have resulted in creating man-made forests and new parks with a favourable microclimate that have beneficial effects on the health and mood of holidaymakers.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov approved the membership of the Interagency Commission for the Caspian Sea of Turkmenistan and signed the relevant Resolution.

In accordance with the Order of the President of Turkmenistan the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the State Enterprise for the Caspian Sea under the President of Turkmenistan will hold the 43rd meeting of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea at the level of deputy ministers of foreign affairs of the Caspian states in Ashgabat on January 27-29.

The Turkmen leader signed the Decree on the appointment of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Riyadh) O. Charyev Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Other issues were discussed and the decisions were adopted at the meeting.
