A solemn meeting marking the 24th anniversary of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan and the Day of Defender of the Fatherland took place in the conference hall of the Central House of Officers at the Ministry of Defence of Turkmenistan. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov congratulated the participants on the remarkable date during a video conference.
Military servants took part in the flower laying ceremony at the Halk Hakydasy Memorial in reverence for the patriotic behests of heroic ancestors, in immense respect for their exploits in the battles for freedom and independence of the people before the meeting. The meeting brought together officers of the Armed Forces, young warriors who had gained the outstanding achievements in combat training and cadets.

The Turkmen leader called upon them to perform military service in good faith, exemplify devotion to the Motherland and fidelity to the military oath and be worthy successors to patriotic values and lofty character traits of the Turkmen people, such as the love for the Motherland, selflessness and courage.
The Turkmen leader said that our people had the millennia-old glorious history and rich military traditions that the nation took pride in. The President said that the sacred duty of every military servant was to maintain the best military traditions of courageous ancestors.
Noting that the brave defenders of the Fatherland were to fulfil the important and responsible tasks in the Year of Reverence for Heritage marked by the 25th anniversary of independence of our neutral state, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed firm belief that they would honourably fulfil them.

On the eve of the Day of the Defender of the Fatherland President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov approved the new Military Doctrine that was purely defensive in nature and aimed to further strengthen independence of Turkmenistan, enhance the prestige of the status of permanent neutrality and ensure security and integrity of the country, the military capability of the state.
The Minister expressed profound gratitude on behalf of all military servants to the Turkmen leader for his concern and support.
