In his congratulatory address the leader of the Turkmen state said: “The green banner flying high in the peaceful sky is a national shrine. The Flag is a sacred symbol of every state that embodies its independence and sovereignty. Our National Flag was created 24 years ago on February 19, 1992 as the confirmation of independence and sovereignty of Turkmenistan, the unity of the nation. We deeply respect our freely flying green banner as immeasurable value that has embodied our national traditions and sacred concepts about the Motherland.
The National Flag, which has strongly established itself as the greatest shrines of the Fatherland, reflects the mentality, historical memory and original traits – the dignity and pride of our courageous people, who follow the principles of humanism and friendship at all times.
The National Flag reflects the lofty dreams and aspirations of the Turkmen people for the free and independent Motherland, an independent state. The emerald colour of the Flag symbolizes the eternal life and creation, five stars and the crescent moon imprinted on its cloth reflect the national unity, the unique carpet patterns tell about our glorious history and the olive branches symbolize peace and neutrality.
We implement ambitious projects in the name of the great future of the sovereign Fatherland. We show unceasing concern for bringing up a healthy, well-educated and harmoniously developed younger generation. Numerous sports facilities, new buildings of higher educational institutions, organisations and enterprises, hospitals, kindergartens and schools equipped with advanced technology are put into operation throughout the country. Villages, settlements, towns in etraps and etrap centres are developed, residential areas and modern roads are built, transport and communication infrastructure is developed, industrial giants using the latest technology are created.
We have established friendly relations with many countries of the world. We develop wide mutually beneficial cooperation with major international organisations, particularly with the United Nations Organisation.
