President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received President of Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, who arrived in our country.
During the meeting, the guest, known to the world for his progressive politics and creative initiatives for promoting and developing sport, underlined the high interest of the OCA in strengthening effective cooperation with Turkmenistan. In accordance with the decision of the Olympic Council of Asia, Ashgabat will host V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in 2017.
During the meeting, President of Turkmenistan and the head of the Asian Olympic Council exchanged views of priority issues on bilateral cooperation, and noted that there were ample opportunities for its further incentives. The main theme of discussion was the preparation for the Asian Games 2017. The competition to be held in the arena of Ashgabat Olympic Village is now under construction. As is known, the construction of this universal set of sport units and other appropriate infrastructure is carried out in three phases. Currently, works are completed within the scope of the first and second phases, and the construction of the third phase continues at a rapid pace.
In this regard, the head of the Asian Olympic Council expressed sincere appreciation to the leader of the Turkmen state for drawing constant attention and providing active support in preparation to the Games. The guest also highly appreciated for work carried out in Turkmenistan.
