President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani discussed over the telephone the current state and perspectives of further development of interstate dialogue.
The heads of two friendly states congratulated each other on the occasion of the spring holiday Novruz bairam and discussed issues on Turkmen-Afghan cooperation. As stated, Turkmen and Afghan people sincerely valued traditionally good-neighborly relationships and fruitful partnerships, positive futures of which directly serves all round construction of political and diplomatic, economic and trade, cultural and humanitarian ties.
President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani expressed sincere gratitude for constant assistance in stabilization of a peaceful life and social economic development in Afghanistan. In this regard, Turkmenistan continues to supply Afghanistan with electrical power on favorable terms, send humanitarian goods on a regular basis, and build new facilities to be used for social care.
In northern part of the provinces of Afghanistan, according to initiative of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, it was built schools and houses of health, and started construction of a maternity hospital in Turghundi town in Herat province. As noted, both countries actively develop humanitarian ties. In terms of achieved interstate agreements, there are dozens of afghan students study in various educational institutions of Turkmenistan.
President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan stressed that according to initiative of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, a large scale projects on construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline and the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan railway roads will become an invaluable contribution to peaceful reconciliation of the situation in Afghanistan and sustainable socio-economic development for the entire Central Asian region.
Thereupon, it is started a construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, which will have great impact on economic development of not only Turkmenistan as the supplier of energy resources, but also transit countries including gas consumers. The implementation of which will be a powerful incentive for economic development of the region, including Afghanistan which is intended to contribute further to strengthening peace and stability in this country. In this regard, the infrastructural facilities of the TAPI project will bring about 12,000 new jobs aimed at improvement of living standard of population.
Moreover, one of the profound factors of socio-economic revival of Afghanistan is the construction of new high-capacity energy facilities in Lebap and Mary regions of Turkmenistan which aim at providing five times more the Turkmen electrical power supplies to Afghanistan.
