President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Turkmenistan Mr. Toyohisa Kozuki

Expressed sincere gratitude for the opportunity to meet in person, the diplomat presented his credential letters to the leader of Turkmenistan and passed warm greetings from the Emperor of Japan Akihito and Prime Minister of Japan Shinzō Abe, who addressed good wishes of wellbeing and prosperity to the entire Turkmen nation. Besides, it was noted a high interest of the Japanese side in further development of traditionally friendly relations with Turkmenistan by conducting peace policy and positive neutrality and "open door" policy which take a significant role of the country in the Central Asian region and its ever-increasing international reputation.

Thanking for the kind words, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov passed cordial greetings and best wishes onto the Emperor and Prime Minister of Japan, stressing that Turkmenistan also attaches great importance to enhancing mutually beneficial Turkmen-Japanese partnership, which is now acquired a new quality and depth. Congratulating Mr. Toyohisa Kozuki on new appointment to the accountable and diplomatic post, the Turkmen leader wished him successes in carrying out important mission to strengthen ties of friendly and fruitful cooperation between the two countries and peoples.

In the course of the meeting the President of Turkmenistan and the Japanese diplomat exchanged views on priority areas of bilateral relations which are dynamically developing in bilateral and multilateral formats. As is known, Turkmenistan was elected as the Chair of the Dialogue "Central Asia plus Japan" for 2015-2016 years.

The head of state and the ambassador of a friendly country emphasized the effective nature of the Turkmen-Japanese business relations, built on a long-term basis. Vivid evidence of it is the participation of world well known Japanese companies in the implementation of major investment projects in various sectors of the economy of Turkmenistan, including the gas-chemical and chemical sectors. Also, our country relies on the introduction of high technology and advanced innovations, which opens opportunities for productive cooperation with Japanese partners proven to have solid experiences in these areas.

A strong impetus to the multi vectored partnership was given to the agreements reached during the official visits of the Turkmen leader to Japan and the Japanese Prime Minister to Turkmenistan in recent years. An important role is also given to the activities of the Turkmen-Japanese and Japanese-Turkmen Committees to promote deepening and diversification of economic cooperation in its all spectrum.

Speaking about the importance of traditional humanitarian ties, which are an integral part of inter-state cooperation, President of Turkmenistan and the Japanese diplomat, noted the importance of promoting closer contacts in science, education and culture. Also, it is important to study rich historical and cultural heritage of the two countries.

Thus, an important step towards deepening the bilateral cooperation in science and education will be the forthcoming opening in Ashgabat the new Technological University, which is planned to train students using Japanese curriculum with teachers from Japan.

In addition, it was noted that there were good prospects for expanding cooperation in sport in view of the upcoming 2017 V Asian Indoor Games and Martial Arts in Ashgabat.

In conclusion, the President of Turkmenistan and the Ambassador of Japan expressed confidence that friendly relations and constructive dialogue between the two countries and peoples would continue to successfully develop adding new in depth involvement.
