The Interdepartmental Commission reviewed the implementation of international commitments of Turkmenistan in the field of human rights

The meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission to ensure compliance with Turkmenistan's international commitments in the field of human rights and international humanitarian law, was held in Ashgabat, which was attended the representatives of Mejlis, ministries and branch ministries, public organizations of the country.

Promulgating as a key aspect of public policy is the protection of interests of humans and human rights, and recognizing a priority of generally recognized rules of law, our country is taking consistent steps to implement its provisions and strictly adheres to its commitments. Besides, development of fruitful cooperation with leading international organizations as the United Nations and its agencies with efforts to implement joint projects and programs, attaches a great importance.

A vivid confirmation of it was the resolution approved by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, on March 18 of this year, on the National Action Plan of Turkmenistan on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings for the 2016-2018 years aimed at meeting goals arising from the National Plan of Action in the field of human rights in Turkmenistan for the period of 2016 -2020 years. While revising it, the participants stressed that practical implementation of it is intended to promote human rights and freedoms and strengthen the social and legal protection of the population, as well as enhancement of the ongoing work in this area.

The meeting also identified the next steps for implementation of the Country Programme Actions Plans (CPAP) signed between the Government of Turkmenistan and the UNFPA for 2016-2020 years and the Country Programme Actions Plans (CPAP) between the Government of Turkmenistan and UNICEF for 2016-2020 years, signed on March 23 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, as well as the Action Plan for the Implementation of International Humanitarian Law for 2016-2017 for 2016-2017 years. In this regard, it was emphasized that the Commission work coordinating successful implementation of the programs’ measures, in which an important place will be given to continuation of best practices with regard to attract experts from reputable international organizations to organize seminars, workshops and working groups as well as consultations on legal issues.
