President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov together with his grandchildren visited the National Wildlife Museum located in the picturesque foothills of the Kopetdag Mountains – Geokdere settlement. The Turkmen leader got acquainted with the conditions created for animals of the local and world fauna and the opportunities for interesting and informative leisure activities created for visitors.

The National Wildlife Museum is the largest scientific, nature-oriented and educational centre, - a piece of tremendous work aimed at fostering a love for nature, a sense of responsibility for it among the younger generation as well as the efforts to maintain and increase the population of unique species of local fauna.

The museum located on 40-hectare territory has become a home for 3,000 inhabitants, including mammals, birds, reptiles, fish and other inhabitants of sea depth.

It should be noted that animals live in the zoo in conditions, which reflect their natural habitats as closely as possible.

Thus, inhabitants of hot deserts and steppes of Africa feel comfortable and at ease in Geokdere ‘savannah’. Among them are the largest birds in the world - ostriches and herbivorous animals - buffaloes, white rhinos, zebras ...

Giraffes have adapted well to the Turkmen nature that is vividly proved by the addition to their family - this year they had a baby.

The leader of the nation with his grandchildren viewed the inhabitation of predators, including - leopards, lions, tigers, hyenas, wolves, lynx and other animals. By the way, lions and leopards have also started families and raised their offspring in the National Wildlife Museum, which is a bright evidence of good conditions created for animals.

The thematic museum is divided into four zones: the African savannah and the territory of predators in the eastern part of the park, ungulates and poultry market - in the western zone. Winter facilities with access to large paddocks under the open sky are created for each animal species. This includes spacious open-air cages, high pavilions for birds, artificial ponds, aquariums, a monkey house, a terrarium cage, a stable with hippodrome and playground for young animals.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and his grandchildren got acquainted with the conditions created for breeding Ahalteke horses. The leader of Turkmenistan told his grandchildren many interesting facts about his favorite beautiful animals.

Then the Turkmen leader with grandchildren visited the area of ‘ships of the desert’ - arvana camels and Bactrian camels, where they received the good news - a two-humped female camel gave birth to a white camel.

The south-western part of the museum is inhabited by predatory birds, exotic inhabitants of tropical forests, numerous waterfowl and domestic poultry. High tents protected mesh and artificial lakes are filled with birds’ chatter and the noise of wings of cranes, ducks, beautiful swans, parrots, peacocks and pheasants.

The main architectural building of the zoological complex is a four-storey marble building of the museum “World of Animals” with a well-equipped observation area on the terrace that provides a spectacular view of the Kopetdag Mountains and a wide panorama extending to the horizon of green fields and forest plantations.
