President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Chairman of the Executive Committee - Executive Secretary of the Commonwealth of Independent States Sergey Lebedev, who arrived in our country to participate the ceremony of launching the programme of cultural events that would take place throughout the year in Dashoguz, the cultural capital of the CIS in 2016.
The guest noted that he was glad to have an opportunity to visit Turkmenistan again and expressed sincere gratitude to the Turkmen leader for providing active support to development of constructive cooperation within the CIS. In this context, it was underlined the proactive approach taken by our country to deepening and enhancing fruitful economic and humanitarian relations within the Commonwealth of Independent States given contemporary realities and prospects. This is vividly proved by the fact that in recent years Turkmenistan has hosted numerous important CIS meetings and forums, which are always held on a high organisational level.

Particular attention was paid to the status of the cultural capital of the CIS delegated to Dashoguz in 2016 and the programme of cultural events that would take place in the administrative centre of the northern region of Turkmenistan this year. These include conferences, cultural actions, concerts, etc. In this regard, the Chairman of the Executive Committee - Executive Secretary of the CIS expressed sincere gratitude to the Turkmen leader for the support provided to organization of these activities aimed at encouraging fruitful cultural contacts within the CIS and enriching cultures of the friendly nations.
The ways to enhance cooperation in such important sphere as sport that provides wide opportunities for cooperation in the context of the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which will be held in Ashgabat in 2017, were discussed during the meeting. Taking the opportunity, the guest congratulated the Turkmen leader and all citizens of Turkmenistan on the 25th anniversary of independence of Turkmenistan celebrated this year and the achievements gained by the country in all spheres of life.
