“In all times water considered the sacred source of life and abundance, as it is transforming the nature by turning boundless steppe into the valley of blooming, and blessed land. That is why our ancestors knew well the value of water and could conserve it, equating each drop of water to a grain of gold- states the message by the head of Turkmen state.
Our ancestors for thousands years formed the high standard crop-growing agriculture by diligently working in arid climates in order to improve habitat by cultivating heavy crops.
Our ancestors have come up with effective ways to bring life-giving water in a totally waterless terrain. Following the noble tradition of thoughtful approach to water management, today, it is implemented large-scale programme measures aimed at the rational use and the careful conservation of water resources in Turkmenistan.
In recent years, it’s been a lot of work done to conserve such priceless wealth of the country and efficient water consumption. Saving technologies and the latest scientific achievements are put into practice during construction of water-resources development and systems, which are widely applied best practices.
We set important tasks to provide clean drinking water to the population. On this basis, we adopted "General program in supplying settlements of Turkmenistan with clean drinking water". Today, there are large scale measures implemented in this area, a vivid evidence of which is to commissioning of comprehensive factories of drinking water and water-purification plants built in all corners of our sunny land.
Today, at a rapid pace it is building the second phase of the Turkmen lake "Altyn Asyr", which is the largest up-to-date hydraulic structure. Thanks to well-established work of outfall pipes which let salt waters from cultivated fields of the country flew together in the lake leading to decrease the groundwater level. As a result it improves reclamation state of land which leads to increase crops yield enriching flora and fauna of the Karakum desert.
In addition, building a new man-made lake in the middle of the Karakum desert, which is one of the greatest deserts on the planet, helps to improve the environmental situation not only in our country, but also in the entire Central Asian region, and becomes a positive factor with regard to environmental protection.
We will continue to carry out extensive work on further improvement of living conditions of our population, and upgrade the work related to national hydro-economic sphere".
