Annually as a good tradition, on the first Sunday of April, Turkmenistan widely solemnly celebrates the national holiday “A drop of water is a grain of gold”. On this day, the country holds the celebrations in honor of mirabs, land improvers, hydrobuilders, who are engaged in decision of major tasks on preservation and rational use of water resources.
Grandiose water economic projects are realized in the country, the issues of land reclamation are innovatively solved. Reforms in water branch became a significant vector of drastic reformations in village urged to raise on a new level of development the national agro-industrial complex, quality of life of peasants.
This morning, a festive event has taken place in suburb of Ashgabat on the bank of Garagum River. Numerous participants of the holiday were welcomed here with traditional national dishes.
Among participants, there are the members of government, heads of the Parliament, ministries and departments, heads of the diplomatic missions accredited to Turkmenistan, representatives of public organisations, foreign guests, elders, veterans and foremost people in water economy, teachers and students of higher educational establishments, journalists, numerous residents and visitors of the capital.
Participants of the celebration listened with great attention and enthusiasm to the Address of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
As a sign of particular gratitude, on behalf of all workers of water economy of the country, the Ahalteke horse was presented to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Here, the exhibition of products of agro-industrial complex of Turkmenistan, which exposition included the samples of various foodstuff, has expanded under open air. Among participants of exhibition halls – the structural divisions of the Ministry Agriculture and Water Economy, and many others. Wide assortment of production novelties, the modern equipment and technologies have been presented to attention of guests.
Not far away, it was displayed the powerful high-efficiency vehicles, being used in agro-industrial complex. As it is known, modernization and renovation of the fleet of technics are one of the basic directions of development strategy of water economy and agriculture of Turkmenistan.
The participants also had an opportunity to familiarize with various irrigating technologies - from the most ancient up to the newest irrigating systems. From time immemorial, the Turkmen land was famous for its fertility, blossoming oases. Our ancestors owned the art of creation of the most complicated irrigational networks, allowing maintaining high level of the farming standard, appreciated each drop of water worth its weight in gold. Today mirabs – water economy employees apply the most advanced elaboration in this sphere, allowing carefully and with the greatest return to use water resources.
Owing to successes in realization of water economy projects, agro-production in a droughty arid climate shows efficiency, allowing providing the food abundance in the country.
Here, it is possible to familiarize with model of Turkmen Lake “Altyn Asyr” - the scale project aimed at modern tap of ground waters, which have accumulated on fields, improvement of land condition, prevention salinization of soil, increase of fertility of lands and reuse of ground waters for protection and rational use of land and water resources.
Another important factor will be that the reservoir created by human hands will allow, as President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted, to soften a severe climate of desert and to improve an ecological situation not only in our country, but also in all Central Asian region.
According to national and foreign specialists, high efficiency of the project of Turkmen Lake “Altyn Asyr” is the most advanced today in the world experience in technology of revival of the used waters.
Rich flora and fauna of Turkmenistan has been also presented at the exhibition. Primordially careful attitude of the Turkmen people to water is reflected in a colourful exhibition of works of sculptors, artists and jewelers organized on riverbank. Performances of folklore groups of the provinces, who brought their best creative numbers to the capital, attached to festival deeply national colour.
There was held an exhibition performances of the canoeists, where slow sliding and fast rotation of boats in many respects resembled a dance...
The joyful mood was added by competitions on national games, belt wrestling, chess and draughts. Demonstration performances of young sportsmen became a remembered part of the celebratory program. During a celebration there has passed ceremony of landing of green plantings on a new site of park zone. Each of present people with enthusiasm undertook a shovel in order that hundreds of young saplings have even more increased beauty of the native earth.
Visitors were treated with various drinks and ethnic cuisine dishes near the yurtas symbolizing picturesque shape of ancient Turkmen village farmsteads, it was possible to see various pets as well. Great popularity at visitors used camel milk, агаран, a gurt and, of course, meat govurma with hot bread from tamdyr.
As a good tradition, the rewarding ceremony of foremost people in industry from all provinces and capital became the holiday culmination. On behalf of the head of state Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the meliorators, hydrotechnicians, engineers, scientists, mirabs and machine operators, builders involved in sites of branch, as well as active workers of social organisations of the country were awarded with valuable gifts.
