“Round table” meeting, devoted to realization of National Strategy and Action Plan for 2015-2019 “Health protection of mothers, newborns, children and teenagers in Turkmenistan” started its work in the conference hall of “Yildyz” hotel. Specialists of Ministries of Health and Medical Industry, Education, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), TIKA take part in its work. Representatives of Ankara University - the leading expert in the field of pediatrics of development Professor Ilgi Ertem, experts Revana Mustafa and Tarana Seid-Mammadova have specially arrived in Ashgabat for participation in session.
As it is known, these documents developed with technical support of UNICEF, WHO and UNFPA, were confirmed at the end of 2014 in days of celebration of the 25th anniversary since adoption of the Convention on child rights. According to the international experts, they promote strengthening of healthcare system of Turkmenistan, effective realization of programs of health of all mothers and children.
Strategy offers long-term objectives in the field of health protection of mothers and newborns, which include the integrated treatment of diseases of children's age, chronic diseases and physical inability. The principle of the system approach underlies the strategy. It outlines long-term objectives on improvement of health of mothers, newborns, children and teenagers by perfection of perinatal and pediatric services, early development of the child, nutrition system, prevention of infectious diseases and traumatism, improvement of the physical environment.
So, the session agenda included the issues of pediatrics of development and services of early intervention with focus on early revealing and rendering of trans-disciplinary services.
In Turkmenistan, the mother and child health protection is the major priority of the state. The country has joined the basic international conventions and strategies, and has declared the necessity of strengthening of policy and practices aimed at maintenance of development and health of the child.
In the near future, within the framework of national strategy, it is envisaged the creation of optimum conditions for prevention, early diagnostics and successful correction of infringements in development of the child, education and training, in social adaptation and integration into society of persons with disabilities.
