According to the guest, new important initiatives put forward by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, first of all creation of transnational transport and transit corridors and logistics centres open up new opportunities for widening cooperation. That is vividly proved by the purchase of the largest in the region ferry vessels that ship passengers and goods from Turkmenbashi International Sea Port to the sea ports in the Caspian states, including port Olya, the Russian Federation.
Petrochemical industry, particularly supply of sulphur from Turkmenistan, shipbuilding and shiprepairing as well as tourism given the keen interest of Russians in the Avaza national tourism zone on the Caspian coast were specified among the priority areas for cooperation between Turkmenistan and Astrakhan
Particular attention during the meeting was paid to further development of traditional cultural and humanitarian relations given the interests of the huge Turkmen diaspora living in this region.
As is known, the monument to the classic of Turkmen literature of the XVIII century, an outstanding thinker and philosopher of the East Magtymguly Fraghi was erected in Astrakhan in 2009. Construction of a new modern school in the Astrakhan Oblast is a bright evidence of the fruitful dialogue in the cultural, humanitarian and educational spheres.
The governor of the Astrakhan Oblast called for the continuation of teaching Turkmen students in higher educational institutions and specialized schools in the Astrakhan Oblast and suggested to send volunteers, who speak foreign languages, to Turkmenistan during the large sports events within the 2017Asian Games.
