President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received the head of the Olympic Committee of the State of Qatar Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al Thani, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the celebrations on Turkmen Horse Day.
Thanking for the warm welcome and hospitality, the guest conveyed to the Leader of the Turkmen nation Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov warm greetings from the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, who addressed the heartily wishes to all people of Turkmenistan prosperity and well being. Cordially congratulated the Head of our State on the national holiday, Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al Thani said that he was sincerely glad to take part in the ongoing large-scale festivities in Turkmenistan, testifying the glory of "heavenly" horses, a priceless heritage of the nation and the world civilization.
Warmly greeting the guest, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed the best wishes to the top leadership, the entire nation of the friendly country, underlined the importance paid to high level interstate dialogue, a new impetus has been given in March during the official visit to Turkmenistan the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani.
At the meeting, the sides exchanged views on perspectives for further deepening and expansion of bilateral partnership on wide range areas. As noted, Turkmenistan pays special attention to development of broad international cooperation for the benefit of world peace and stability. Our countries constructively cooperate in the format of international organizations - the United Nations and other competent bodies. In this regard, President thanked the leadership of Qatar for the support of two UN resolutions on the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan, as well as important initiatives of our country on the creation of transit-transport corridors to ensure global energy security.
Noting that Turkmenistan and the State of Qatar has abundant energy resources, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited the representatives of business circles of this country to participate in joint investment projects in the field of deep processing of natural gas, as well as the project implementation on construction of the transnational gas pipeline Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India. As the Leader of the Nation underlined, a new energy highway is designed to ensure long-term supply of natural gas to major states of South-East Asia. It contributes to solving economic problems of the region, and important social and humanitarian issues.
In 2017 Ashgabat will host the V Asian Indoor Games and Martial Arts and our country is interested in exchanging of experiences in this area, said President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and noted that these prestigious competitions will be held in arenas which is being constructed in Ashgabat Olympic Village, the largest in the region of the sports facilities complex.
A separate topic of conversation was devoted to possibility of establishment of bilateral relations in horse breeding. Both countries have centuries-old traditions pay close attention to its development. On this occasion, the head of the Qatar Olympic Committee, Sheikh Jauan bin Hamad Al-Thani expressed his sincere admiration for the impressive progress achieved by Turkmenistan in creating modern sports infrastructure, including the magnificent, technically equipped and a new Akhal-Teke equestrian complex, built in the picturesque foothills of the Kopetdag.
