As was informed in the State sanitary-epidemiologic service of the Ministry of Health and medical industry of Turkmenistan, long-term efforts of the state, medical workers, experts of other ministries and departments, at active participation of the population and close interaction with World Health Organization, have allowed to realize the Program of preventive maintenance of malaria and the Strategic Action Plan on elimination of malaria in Turkmenistan. As a result of joint efforts, elimination of malaria has been reached. In 2010 the WHO has included Turkmenistan into the list of countries free from malaria. It is necessary to underline that Turkmenistan has become the first among the CIS countries, which have achieved the termination of circulation of a three-day malaria. Experience of our country has been recommended by the WHO to other countries. For maintenance of the status of the country, free from malaria, the Plan on prevention of malaria return has been activated, in which all actions on prevention of delivery of malaria from endemic countries have been provided.

Actions dated to the World day of struggle against malaria are carried out annually in our country. In capital and all velayats, cities and etraps, various meetings and competitions organized by medical workers jointly with territorial municipalities and public organizations are conducted these days. Training seminars, open lessons, competitions for best banner, stand and booklet are held for medical workers, students and schoolchildren. Active sanitary-educational work is carried out in mass media.
