The meeting participants from the Turkmen side are representatives of ministries such as: Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, Ministry of Interior Affairs are the stakeholders of the program. The representatives of international agencies are the heads of diplomatic missions of EU countries and the European Union representative, specialists of the OSCE Centre in Turkmenistan, United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, etc.
During the meeting, there was an overview of implementation of the sixth phase of the program in Turkmenistan for the period of 2015-2016 and considered the plan of joint actions for the near future. As is known, CADAP-6 supports the continuity of EU policy in the field of long-term cooperation with Central Asian partners in order to further strengthen the work on prevention of drug abuse.
EU experts were highly appreciated undertaken by our country measures aimed at reducing the supply and use of drugs and tobacco. They attached particular importance of the state’s initiatives in promoting priority issues, particularly on healthy lifestyle among young people.
Summing up the results of Ashgabat meeting, the organizers noted that the same meetings of the National Coordinating Council of CADAP-6 met once a year to support the ongoing dialogue and exchange information with participants of this program to hold a nation-wide campaign to improve nation’s health.
