Turkmenistan – this word is associated with the melodies of the dutar and many voices of exuberant festivities, it is associated with the rustle of the ripening wheat fields and buzzing of big cities, the beauty of nature and the richness of history.

The attractions of this land are a great number of natural and historical monuments, unique ethnic flavour, living traditions and customs the Turkmen people.

Day after day, year after year the sea waves have been diligently inlaying the ideal golden beaches, and the time has come for people to estimate them at their true. The Avaza national tourism zone appeared on the picturesque seashore, the world-class resort is being brought into being before our eyes. Nowadays, during the Turkmen Renaissance the Avaza tourism zone project is a vivid illustration how Turkmenistan is developing the sector with the tremendous potential – the tourism industry by applying latest economic achievements and testing the mechanism of free economic zones. The high-rise buildings of comfortable hotels sprang up, and modern infrastructure has been developed on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea. The history of Avaza which it is not long yet but eventful appears to be a series of bright building premieres, spectacular presentations, successful economic and technological innovations.

The other regions of the country are not less interesting for our guests. This land can be rightfully called the land of the sun. The highest mountain ridge in the country – Koytendag situated in the east of the county is the first in Turkmenistan to see the dawn. After a while – and the sun light ushers in a new day in Turkmenabat, Mary and the white-marble capital Ashgabat – an architectural pearl lying at the foothills of the Kopetdag Mountains. This big mountain system of the country is remarkable for many healing springs which gave rise to the construction of the world-renowned health resorts such as Archman. The subtropics – the land of pomegranate and olive groves lie to the southwest of the Kopetdag Mountains.

The Karakum Desert is the huge barkhans rising dozens of metres there, but the life seethes there even in the summer heat: bushes and saxaul groves turn green. Those visiting this region for the first time will be fascinated by the boundless expanses of the sandy ocean. These waves heave, this sand sings…

Though the Karakum Desert seems to be boundless, it has borders. Suddenly blooming oases where cool water babbles in waterways, young mulberry trees on the edges of green fields turn towards the sun unfold before the eyes amidst the sands. In some parts of the region the Karakum Desert breaks at the foot of the high mountains. Such as, for example, the Big Balkhans that tower above the desert like a rocky island.

In the north the Karakum Desert borders on the towering steeps of the Ustyurt Plateau, silver surface of the Sarakamysh Lake, emerald thickets of cane on the banks of this huge lake. This land attracts by the harsh landscapes of plateaus and precipices, vast plains where the herds of koulans rambled in remote times. The oases of Dashoguz Velayat, ancient Kunya Urgench lie nearby.

In the south, in the heart of the great desert the time hid the artefacts we inherited from the ancient country of Margush: the Ancient Merv historical reserve that has remained in all its beauty lies in the centre of the present-day Murghab oasis nearby the administrative centre of the region. The Sultan Sanjar Mausoleum of amazing beauty is believed to be its adornment. The slopes of the fantastically beautiful plateaus Badhyz and Karabil situated in the very south of the country, on both sides of the Murghab Valley are dressed in marvellous attire of herbs, irises and tulips in the springtime.
