A number of events were organized for children spending their summer holidays in recreation centres throughout the country with the aim to ensure the harmonious development and good rest.
The Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, the Political Council of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan and Ahal Velayat Khyakimlik organized the creative event entitled “Turkmenistan is the country of happy childhood”.
The contest of versatile talents, including singers, dancers, musicians, poets and young actors took place at the Bagtyyar Nesiller children’s recreation centre in Geokdere. Young talents from all children’s centres in the unique natural recreation area, located in the picturesque gorge at the foothills of the Kopetdag Mountains, participated in the contest. Diplomas and valuable gifts were awarded to the most talented competitors.
The famous circus group “Shovhun” created by the students of the Turkmen State Institute of Culture performed in children’s recreation cenres in Avaza.
The Ministry of Education, the National Trade Unions Centre and the Central Council of Magtymguly Youth Organization of Turkmenistan organized the beach football tournament at the Dayanch children’s recreation centre.
The children’s art contests dedicated to the 25th anniversary of independence of the Motherland were organized in all children’s recreation centres.
Children’s creativity contest held under the motto “We love nature” with the aim to ensure the development of ecological culture brought together young holidaymakers from all the children's recreation centres in Geokdere.
The young firemen contest was organized for ‘menflock’ the children's recreation centres in Geokdere. They competed in five stages demonstrating their skills to struggle against the fire, protect people and nature in emergency situations.
The organizers of the contest – the Ministry of Education, the Fire Safety agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan, the National Trade Unions Centre and the Central Council of Magtymguly Youth Organization of Turkmenistan awarded the winners of the contest with special diplomas and prizes.
The sports competitions between children from various recreation centres in Geokdere was held under the motto “Young generation towards the 2017 Asian Games” at Muhammetmurat Niyazov centre. The programme of the contest included competitions in such sports as athletics, football, basketball, volleyball, swimming, table tennis, as well as intellectual duels checkers, chess and the national game duzzum.
The organizers of the contest - the Ministry of Education and Turkmenistan International Fitness and Sports Society created all necessary conditions so that the competitive spirit motivated children for practicing sports and achieving high results.
The rich palette of children's holidays includes expositions of Ashgabat and velayat museums and libraries, performances and movie screenings, folklore festival, meetings with noble people of different professions, educational excursions.

The Iolotan Etrap in Mary Velayat has accumulated rich experience in organizing children's activities. Children's summer recreation areas, which operate in three shifts, twenty days each are opened at twelve secondary schools.
Popular and funny competitions make the holidays interesting and versatile. Joint participation in these games develops the team spirit, responsibility and endurance among children. Under the guidance of teachers, children paint, mold, make toys and other articles from materials on hand, listen to music, watch videos.
Older children attend the educational centre opened in the Iolotan Etrap, where great attention is paid to the organization of leisure. Teenagers play tennis, chess and checkers. Intellectual quizes and competitions are organized there. In order to ensure the safety of children’s life, the centre organizes meetings to promote the healthy lifestyle, prevent injuries and accidents and teach children on the rules of sanitary and fire safety.

Ioloten wrestlers have the rich sports traditions. In August, ten students of the sambo and judo sports school will go to the training camp in Gokdere to prepare for participation in the 2017Asian Games.
