It is a systematic event to strengthen material-technical base of sports, in particular bicycling receive a new birth in our country.
To recall, the first society of bicyclists was established in Ashgabat at the end of the last century - in 1894, i.e. 122 years ago. A year later, the first race bicyclists, laid the foundation of the development of bicycling in Turkmenistan. Thus, in our country this sport has a long tradition. And today, in our sovereign motherland cycling finds a second life.
In the framework of implementation of "Program development of bicycling sport in Turkmenistan for 2013-2017" established by the special Presidential decree "On issues of bicycling development in Turkmenistan", have been taken specific measures aimed at systematic development of this kind of sport with the active involvement of young people in it and training of athletes at the international level. Because of it, the bicycling sport has received a powerful impetus giving hopes for the successful performance of the national team at the 2017 Asian Games.
Competition of this spectacular sports discipline will be held in one of the arenas of the capital of the Olympic village - in the magnificent indoor bicycling track. It is provided conditions to allow holding international competitions and tournaments, including the World Championships. Bicycle Track is designed for 6000 seats. At the site, it is provided all the necessary infrastructure to create ultimate conditions for athletes and coaches, technical and service staff, journalists and, of course, the audience - fans of bicycling.
With the opening of the indoor cycling track in Ashgabat on the basis of the Olympic Village, it is started a new page in the history of the national bicycling movements, therefore, the construction of this type of building has been the first time ever in Turkmenistan. The quality of the object has appreciated not only by the sportsmen of the national testing competitions, but also by experts of the International Cycling Union, having expressed interest in holding the World Championships here.
Construction of this infrastructure is a very important step in the development of cycling in Turkmenistan. This can become the venue of large-scale sports events. Thus, the International Cycling Union has expressed the interest in hosting the World Cup in the cycling track in the next few years in Ashgabat. This impressive list of objects of the city is the new Olympic stadium for 45 thousand people, an indoor cycling track for 6000 places, the indoor arena for 5 thousand and 15 thousand people, designed for competitions in sport martial arts and other sports, indoor athletics arena for 5 thousand seats, water complex with the audience seats for 5 thousands people and open-air swimming pool, the indoor and outdoor tennis courts, respectively, for 4000 and 2000 seats, multidisciplinary sports courts with stands for 1,000 seats and outdoor spaces for team sports, as well as small and large gym halls.
One of the objects is the monorail with the length of 5 thousand 180 meters, covering a vast area of the town linking between each other the sports facilities. Throughout its route it is considered a number of properly equipped and original design stations. Currently, this type of elevated railway is widely used in various countries. One of the main advantages of such steel arteries, laid above the ground, is it does not hinder the movement of land transport, thus, very convenient for passengers.
