We realize programme measures for radical reformation of agriculture, making it rentable branch, take necessary decisions in this direction. Our main target in this sphere is, first of all, improvement of food abundance in the country, export of high quality, competitive agricultural production.
In this context, the government creates all necessary conditions for productive works of farmers including cucurbitaceous growers and give appropriate appraisal to their work. It encourages our hard working dyahans (farmers) to achieve new victories and better results. Owing to their selfless labour, where organic combination of high culture of land cultivation legated by our ancestors and modern technologies reflected, our country achieved considerable results in cucurbitaceous growing.
Tireless activity of our cucurbitaceous growers and agrarian scientists for increase of volume of production of aromatic melons and juicy water-melons, creation of new brands, growing of this “paradise” foetus deserve special appreciation. Works of famous travellers, scientists and historians, where they spoke enthusiastically about Turkmen melons, which wonderful taste is unforgettable, remained until today.
As historical manuscripts tell, Turkmenistan is considered to be the birthplace of melons. Today, there are about 1600 breeds of melons registered in international fund of cucurbitaceous growing. And we are proud that almost 400 hundred of them are “paradise” fruits of our land – Turkmen melons, agricultural heritage of our people.
The State will continue to create all conditions for cucurbitaceous growing of our country with its centuries-old history of land cultivation to reach new levels as Turkmen melons are national heritage and best food on our plentiful dastarkhans (tables). I wish you good health, great successes in work, which is summoned to become deserving input into prosperity of native Motherland, in creation of new amazing breeds of Turkmen melon”.
